FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about OGImagen.

What AI model powers OGImagen?

OGImagen uses Google Gemini's image generation models — specifically Gemini 3.1 Flash for fast, high-volume generation and Gemini 3 Pro for maximum quality on complex prompts. These are the same models behind Nano Banana, Google's leading AI image generation API. Both models produce 1200×630px images purpose-built for social media, with no post-processing needed.

What exactly is an OG image?

An OG (Open Graph) image is the preview thumbnail that shows up when you share a link on social media, messaging apps, or Slack. Without one, platforms display a generic blank card. With OGImagen, every link you share gets a professional, branded preview that drives more clicks.

How does AI generation work?

You provide a title, optional description, and brand color. Our AI creates two distinct visual variants — both at the exact pixel dimensions required by each platform (OG 1200×630, Twitter 1200×600, LinkedIn 1200×627). You pick the one you prefer, download the images, and copy the ready-to-paste meta tag snippet for your framework.

What's the difference between Starter, Growth, and Pro?

Starter ($5, one-time) gives you 10 generations with 45-day CDN hosting — perfect for a single project. Growth ($15, one-time) gives you 25 generations with 90-day CDN hosting and priority queue — ideal for multiple projects or a redesign. Pro ($29/month) gives you 50 generations per month with permanent CDN hosting and MCP integration — generate OG images directly from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible editor.

What happens when CDN hosting expires?

We'll send you email reminders at 15, 8, and 2 days before expiry so you never get caught off guard. You can extend hosting for $2 per image (adds 60 more days) directly from the reminder email, or upgrade to Pro for permanent CDN at any time.

Can I extend CDN hosting without upgrading to Pro?

Yes. Each CDN extension costs $2 and adds 60 days to a specific image. You'll find the extend button in the reminder emails and on your dashboard. If you have multiple images, upgrading to Pro ($29/month) is usually more cost-effective since it makes all images permanent.

What is MCP integration?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets AI-powered editors communicate with external tools. With an OGImagen Pro plan, you get an API key that connects your editor (Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or any MCP-compatible client) directly to OGImagen. You can generate OG images, list your generations, and get embed snippets without ever leaving your code. You can even attach logos and brand assets as reference images. Set it up in Dashboard > Billing > API Key.

Which frameworks are supported for meta tag snippets?

We generate copy-ready snippets for Next.js App Router (generateMetadata), Next.js Pages Router (<Head>), Astro (frontmatter), Remix (meta export), SvelteKit (+layout.svelte), and plain HTML (<meta> tags). Each snippet includes both Open Graph and Twitter Card tags.

Where are my images hosted?

All generated images are stored on Cloudflare R2 and served through Cloudflare's global CDN. This means sub-50ms delivery worldwide. Your images get stable, permanent URLs — no expiring signed links, no broken previews.

Can I iterate on a generated image?

Yes. OGImagen uses a chat-based interface. After seeing your two variants, you can send follow-up instructions like "make the text bigger", "change the background to dark", or "add more contrast". Each refinement generates two new variants using your previous image as context.

Do I need to sign up to try it?

You can try the generator on our homepage without signing up. To download images, access all framework snippets, and get CDN hosting, you'll need an account and a paid plan.

Can I cancel Pro at any time?

Yes. Pro is a monthly subscription with no commitments. Cancel through your Stripe billing portal anytime. Your images will remain hosted until the end of your billing period, then they'll switch to the standard expiry countdown based on your previous plan.
