OHFAR Conducts Its First Pediatric Dental Screenings in Armenia

First Official Screenings with Adamnabus at the Armenian International Healthcare Expo 2025

Over four impactful days, our dental team lead by Dr Hripsime welcomed families and provided free pediatric oral health services in a friendly and reassuring environment.

Every child screened presented at least one dental issue requiring professional care, such as cleaning or treatment for dental caries. These findings underline an urgent reality: early dental screening for children is essential, even in urban areas like Yerevan.

This first Adamnabus screening campaign confirmed the importance of preventive pediatric dental care and strengthened OHFAR’s commitment to making oral health accessible, friendly, and educational for families.

OHFAR’s Second Screening Campaign at the Big Christmas Market

Building on this momentum, OHFAR continued its screening efforts from December 17–21, 2025, again at the Meridian Expo Center, during the Big Christmas Market organized by Big Projects.

This event marked: our second pediatric dental screening campaign, more children reached, and more families sensitized to oral health prevention.

We provided

Free dental screenings for children
Christmas gifts including free toothbrushes and toothpastes for children and festive surprises

Children enjoyed a warm, playful, and welcoming environment, learning the basics of oral hygiene while associating dental care with positive emotions.

This approach lies at the heart of the Adamnabus philosophy: prevention through trust, education, and early engagement.

Strengthening Children’s Oral Health in Armenia, One Screening at a Time

Together, these two events represent a crucial step forward for OHFAR’s pediatric dental screening program in Armenia. As Adamnabus continues to grow, our objective remains clear:

Improve early detection of oral health issues
Educate families on preventive dental care
Reduce long-term health complications for children
Expand access to pediatric dental screening across regions

In 2026, Adamnabus will head to Syunik and start a comprehensive pediatrical oral health program.

OHFAR trained PREP pediatric medical residents in Armenia

OHFAR’s team conducted a seminar training for the Pediatric Residency Program of Armenia .

This session is part of our Academy Program, aimed at training doctors, and marks our third session this year since our launch.

The PREP program, run by Lorky Libaridian, supported by HENAR – Health Network For Armenia, and delivered in partnership with Wigmore Medical Centre, ARABKIR Joint Medical Centre, The National Institutes of Health, and Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia , plays a vital role in strengthening pediatric training in Armenia.

This session highlighted how essential it is for future pediatric healthcare professionals to recognize early signs of periodontal and oral health issues in children. Since pediatric residents are often the first point of contact for young patients, their awareness is crucial for ensuring timely referral to dental specialists.

Participants were highly engaged throughout the lecture. They learned about tooth decay, how it develops, and how untreated oral problems can contribute to broader health concerns, including eating difficulties and potential gastrointestinal issues .

Understanding these connections is key to providing comprehensive care and supporting children’s overall well-being.As these residents will go on to practice in various regions of Armenia, this work directly aligns with our mission to strengthen healthcare access and improve child health nationwide.

We are excited to share that OHFAR and the Armenian Periodontists Association (ArmPerio) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Through this partnership, the Armenian Periodontists Association will contribute the expertise and professional experience of its members, helping us collectively advance oral health initiatives. We also look forward to co-hosting annual joint events, which will enrich both organizations and expand our shared impact.

OHFAR Board met with Minister of Health of Armenia Ms. Anahit Avanesyan

On 15 July 2025, representatives of OHFAR had the honor of meeting with the Minister of Health of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Avanesyan, to discuss the current situation of oral health in the country.

This meeting was an important step in building dialogue and cooperation with national health authorities. The Minister warmly welcomed our board members and gave us the opportunity to present OHFAR’s mission, objectives, activities, and our flagship initiative Adamnabus, the mobile dental clinic.

Key Points of Discussion

The conversation touched on several critical areas for the future of oral health in Armenia:

Licensing and regulatory compliance for dental services.
Opportunities for cooperation on health education programs in schools, targeting both children and teachers.
Training and support for family doctors and medical professionals in oral health.
The need for a national strategy for oral health, addressing prevention and care across the country.

Building a Healthier Future Together

OHFAR Delivers Trainings for Dentists and Family Doctors

OHFAR board member Dr Arnold Weiss delivered two trainings in Yerevan for pediatric dentist residents and practicing family doctors.

Our first training for pediatric dentist residents of YSMU

On 14 July 2025, one week after OHFAR official launch, Dr Arnie Weiss delivered a training to pediatric dentistry resident of the Faculty of Dentistry of Yerevan State Medical University. The lecture was about “Oral Sedation: Using wrods versus drugs in behavior guidance and tricks to caring for children successfully”.

Our second training for family doctors in regions with HFA

On 24 September 2025, in partnership with Health For Armenian Foundation (HFA), Dr Arnold Weiss delivered a second lecture related to “Pediatric Dentistry for the Pediatric Practitioner”. The lecture was conducted online for the first cohort of the leadership programme conducted by HFA with primary care doctors from regions of Armenia.

These two trainings are part of our Academy program conducted with local partners and destined to improve capacity of the Armenian dental and medical workforce in oral health of children.

We are overjoyed to share that the launch event of OHFAR on 7 July 2025 was a beautiful success! This project is more than just an initiative. It’s a mission. A promise to reach the objective of 0 kids with untreated tooth decays at 15 years old in Armenia.

Adamnabus Took Its First Tour Through Republic Square!

Adamnabus, our mobile dental clinic, made its first official tour through Republic Square to celebrate its inauguration!

Seeing Adamnabus rolling through the heart of Yerevan under the eyes of history and alongside the people was more than symbolic. This is the first step in a journey to reach every corner of Armenia, delivering quality oral healthcare to children in even the most remote villages.

This celebration marks not only the beginning of a mobile clinic’s mission — but the launch of a national movement for oral health in Armenia.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, cheered us on, and believes in this vision. Adamnabus is now on the move and so are we.

OHFAR participated to the Armenian Medical World Congress 2025

We participated to our first Armenian Medical World Congress in Madrid!

During the conference, we worked with other organizations involved in oral health to establish a common vision for a national preventive oral health strategy in Armenia.

Our team composed of Dr Arnold Weiss, Dr Berdj Kiladjian, Dr Cyril Tahtadjian, and Dr Aram Sirakian could also meet with the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, the High Commissioner for Diaspora Sinanyan Zareh, and the AMIC Committee members such as Vicken Sepilian, MD, FACOG, Jerry Manoukian and Lilian Grigorian.

This event was a great launchpad before our official public launch on 7 July 2025 in Yerevan.

We revealed Adamnabus in Goris!

Adamnabus Unveiled in Goris: A New Chapter Begins

We are proud to announce the official unveiling of Adamnabus, our first-ever mobile dental clinic for children. This milestone coincided with the Decentralised Cooperation Summit between France and Armenia in Goris. This emphasized the spirit of partnership and innovation that defines our work.

We presented Adamnabus to senior officials, healthcare leaders, and local stakeholders. We introduced it as an innovative and practical response to rural healthcare disparities. Among the distinguished guests were Vice Minister of Health Artak Jumayan, Advisor to the Minister of Health Dr. Laurence Terzan, Governor of Syunik Robert Ghukasyan. French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies, and the President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region Fabrice Pannekoucke, following their support presented previously also participated.

Adamnabus represents a transformative step toward ensuring that every Armenian child has access to quality oral healthcare regardless of geography. It is equipped with state-of-the-art dental technology, including a modern panoramic X-ray system.

First Media Appearance: Raising National Awareness

Shortly after the launch, Adamnabus made its first media appearance, featured by the national outlet CivilNet and regional broadcaster Syunik TV.

This initial coverage introduced Adamnabus to the wider Armenian public for the first time. It also helped spark growing interest from local and international partners, reinforcing the importance and urgency of our mission.

First Field Mission: Engaging Schools Around Goris

In preparation for the official clinical launch in Autumn 2025, OHFAR board members conducted a first field mission to several villages in the Goris area.

These visits included meetings with school principals and community leaders, allowing us to assess current needs, build local relationships, and lay the groundwork for our upcoming deployment.

This hands-on engagement ensures that our services will be tailored to the real needs of children and families in Syunik, with long-term impact in mind.
