ParkMyFleet is proud to announce a partnership with CALSTART, a nonprofit, in its effort to develop an infrastructure model to steadily and efficiently support the adoption of Zero-Emission Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicles (ZE-MHDVs).

ParkMyFleet is one of more than 300 member companies and innovators to join together with CALSTART, a leader in advancing clean transportation solutions. Part of its mission involves mapping out a “phased-in” strategy for the adoption of ZE-MHDVs. That entails focusing on hubs in key clusters, then corridors in critical regions and – eventually – in network nodes to create a national framework.

ParkMyFleet applauds — and identifies — with CALSTART’S holistic and impassioned approach towards encouraging and enabling mass adoption of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.

“Getting to mass adoption, and ultimately, Net Zero, is absolutely crucial,” said Mike Landau, CEO at ParkMyFleet. “Fostering partnerships among the driven and forward-thinking leaders in this space will expedite this process and ultimately bring us to the finish line.”

CALSTART’s vision aligns with the new National Zero-Emission Freight Corridor Strategy, a roadmap to enable the building out of charging and hydrogen refueling for heavy-duty trucks. It is prioritizing its initial growth in the areas of highest need and is guiding federal funds and inspiring private investment.

ParkMyFleet’s nationwide mobility hubs are also strategically situated in areas that will support and empower the greatest number of fleets. The company is focusing both on the needs of fleets today and of the future. By 2028, more than half of the fleets the company services will be electric. It will accomplish this feat by offering an end-to-end ecosystem and the greenest energy at the lowest cost.

That includes wireless EV charging, energy storage systems, bidirectional charging and much more.

“Fleets can be centrally managed, charged and maintained, which means an operator can know exactly how much energy is required and plan accordingly,” said Kristin Slanina, Chief Innovation Officer at ParkMyFleet. “Focusing our efforts on electrifying these vehicles is an obvious win and within reach.”

Austin, Texas (March 7, 2024) — ParkMyFleet, an innovative US mobility company, is excited to share its emerging partnerships and investments that will enable the development of Texas’ first intelligent infrastructure economic zone (IIEZ) along a 90-mile fully autonomous corridor.

Cities across the US face aging infrastructure, digital divides, disaster relief struggles and other plaguing issues. The State Highway (SH 130) autonomous corridor, near Austin, Texas – spearheaded by the Autonomy Institute, ParkMyFleet and other organizations — aims to address these issues by supporting automated freight and delivery, engendering intelligent and autonomous vehicles and much more.

Part of this effort will also include developing the region’s first intelligent infrastructure economic zone, which will help bring crucial economic expansion and job growth to the region.

ParkMyFleet is helping to lay the groundwork for this effort by enabling the deployment of drones for disaster relief, deliveries and other functions across the corridor and by introducing thermal solar hydrogen, which converts solar energy into hydrogen gas.

“The US is an unrivaled leader in so many technology spaces, but is grievously falling behind in the functionality of our cities,” said Kristin Slanina, Chief Innovation Officer at ParkMyFleet. “That’s why I am so eager to contribute to this effort, which will undoubtedly help to make our urban hubs greener and more efficient.”

Other key partners are also contributing to this effort, including FiberLight LLC, a fiber infrastructure provider, which has invested $20 million to offer up much-needed bandwidth to SH130.

“Intelligent Infrastructure touches the day-to-day life of each of our citizens and is crucial to competitiveness and prosperity,” said Jeffrey DeCoux, Chairman and Autonomy Fellow at the Autonomy Institute. “We are so grateful to each of our partners that are making this vision a reality.”

Intelligent solutions are a core tenant of ParkMyFleet’s mission, which is integrated into the company’s vast number of mobility hubs across the US that offer fleets eco-friendly and green-energy options such as, electricity and hydrogen, at the lowest cost.

“At the end of the day, mobility is inextricably tied to all aspects of building smart, functional and equitable cities,” said Mike Landau, CEO of ParkMyFleet. “It’s a privilege and — really — an obligation for ParkMyFleet to get involved in this innovative and forward-thinking effort.”

ParkMyFleet is pleased to announce that it is endorsing the Global Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) — robust goals that will help accelerate our global efforts towards achieving a Net-Zero future. On Thursday, at the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt, a number of countries agreed to join the ambitious agreement and key players in the mobility also pledged their support of the MOU.

First introduced at the COP26, the Global MOU is paving a path to 100% new zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicle (MHDV) sales by 2040. The interim goal is for these vehicles to make up at least 30% new sales by 2030.

“I’m truly inspired by the Global MOU, which will play a crucial role in our progress towards net-zero emissions,” said Mike Landau, CEO of ParkMyFleet, an eMobility and Fleet Services company. “The goals directly align with ParkMyFleet’s mission as we continue to develop mobility hubs that meet the needs of fleets as they move towards electrification.”

Together with the Netherlands government, the Global MOU is co-led by CALSTART’s Global Commercial Vehicle Drive to Zero program and campaign.

“The United States sends a powerful message today to the international community that it will work strategically and collaboratively to transition the commercial vehicle sector to zero-emissions,” said John Boesel, CEO of CALSTART. “

Today’s action will advance zero-emission vehicle manufacturing, boost our economy, and create good paying jobs while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”

On Thursday, the US, Ukraine, Ireland, Aruba, Belgium, Croatia, Curaçao, Dominican Republic, Liechtenstein, and Lithuania announced at the COP27 that they would join the Global MOU. A number of major mobility companies, including Siemens and DHL, also pledged their support of the Global MOU.

“Thirty-one years ago, I joined the MIT Solar Car team as a co-captain, and I’ve been working towards creating more sustainable ways to transport people and goods ever since, which why the Global MOU is so personal and important to me,” said Kristin Slanina, CIO of ParkMyFleet. “I am so proud for ParkMyFleet to official support the Global MOU, an effort which will undoubtedly catalyze positive environmental change.”

Parsons, Kansas  (October 12, 2022) ParkMyFleet, an innovative US mobility company, is excited to announce its partnership with Great Plains Industrial Park (GPIP) in southeast Kansas, the United States’ first Net Zero industrial park.

ParkMyFleet is also collaborating on this initiative with Solar Earth Technologies, which manufactures “the world’s toughest solar,” a new form of solar power that can be placed on parking lots, sidewalks and other infrastructure such as truck depots.

“ParkMyFleet is proud to be a part of this ground-breaking effort,” said Mike Landau, CEO and founder of ParkMyFleet. “We are a natural partner and aim to be a solution to help GPIP decarbonize its operations and make the United States’ transportation systems more sustainable.”

“We see solar power as part of this solution,” Landau added. “Together, ParkMyFleet and Solar Earth can explore innovative ways of getting completely sustainable electricity from solar energy.”

ParkMyFleet will have a 30-acre lot at GPIP and will initially service ICE vehicles with fueling and truck scales to weigh freight loads. The company will also help fleets in their transition to more sustainable fuels — including electrification and hydrogen.

“The United States is emerging as a world leader in the move to a Net Zero world,” said Solar Earth CEO Douglas Matthews: “We believe our new form of solar power, which turns traditional infrastructure into a renewable energy micro-grid, will pave the way to that future as we work with ParkMyFleet and the United States’ first Net Zero industrial park.”

GPIP boasts 6,800 acres of contiguous land that is ready for redevelopment. It also has more than 870,000 square feet of available warehouse space. The industrial park’s goal is to reduce and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions across normal business operations in order to achieve a Net Zero status.

ParkMyFleet, Solar Earth, other companies and politicians, including Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) attended an event at GPIP on Wednesday to celebrate its 10th anniversary and show their support of the nascent developments.

The ultimate goal of ParkMyFleet will be to ensure that transportation fleets that go in — and out of — GPIP can be carbon neutral. This initiative is also expected to create local jobs and enable the US to continue to serve as a global leader in transportation innovation.

“This is an important partnership for the Kansas Proving Grounds at the Great Plains Industrial Park, the state of Kansas and America’s leadership in a sustainable future,” said Brad Reams, Director of GPIP. “Transportation is vital to the United States’ economy and its future. By bringing these two innovative companies to Kansas, the very heart of America, we are fast-tracking innovation in Net Zero technologies.”

A number of local leaders and politicians shared their support of the GPIP vision at the event on Wednesday, including Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kansas).

ParkMyFleet offers end-to-end fleet services at its mobility hubs — to fleets of varying sizes — across the US. It will meet the needs of fleets as they electrify and modernize, offering such services as grid-independent EV charging stations, drone delivery services and autonomous vehicle support.

“This project is just so exciting on so many levels,” said Kristin Slanina, Chief Innovation Officer of ParkMyFleet. “The opportunities are endless and GPIP will serve as a destination to test and deploy sustainable transportation innovations as we build ParkMyFleet locations in Kansas and across the United States.”

Thanksgiving travelers may face record high gas prices this year https://parkmyfleet.com/uncategorized/thanksgiving-travelers-may-face-record-high-gas-prices-this-year/ https://parkmyfleet.com/uncategorized/thanksgiving-travelers-may-face-record-high-gas-prices-this-year/#respond Wed, 24 Nov 2021 18:32:24 +0000 https://parkmyfleet.com/?p=1144 The post Thanksgiving travelers may face record high gas prices this year appeared first on Parkmyfleet.com.

]]>

Last month, gas prices hit their highest level since 2014. The national average for a gallon of gas is $3.41.

For many Americans, this Thanksgiving was supposed to be an opportunity to finally celebrate with family beyond the computer screen. But for some, the cost of travel, gas in particular, may push off the in-person celebrations for another year.

This year, 32% of Americans plan to drive for Thanksgiving. That’s down from 35% last year, at the height of the pandemic, according to a survey conducted by GasBuddy, a fuel savings platform. It’s a steep drop from 2019 when 65% of Americans drove over the holiday.

The hesitancy may be due to a number of factors, including lingering concerns about the coronavirus. But a major contributor may also be high gas prices, driven up, in part, due to fluctuations in supply and demand.

“It’s unfortunate that everyday Americans are bearing the brunt of the increased fuel costs, especially since this is the first year of travel coming out of the pandemic,” said Mike Landau, CEO of ParkMyFleet, a mobility company.

Last month, gas prices hit their highest level since 2014. The national average for a gallon of gas is $3.41, which is $1.29 more than it was a year ago, according to AAA. There’s a possibility prices may still climb even higher on Thanksgiving.

According to GasBuddy, there’s a “remote” chance that should oil suddenly surge, gas prices could quickly follow and potentially beat the Thanksgiving record high in 2012. That Thanksgiving marked the most expensive national average ever for the date —  $3.44 per gallon.

“This year, we’re also just cents away from the highest Thanksgiving gas prices ever recorded,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in a statement. “Americans are responding to the prices by slamming the car door shut and staying off the road.”

At the start of the pandemic, demand for oil dropped. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and other oil-producing nations cut production. In the US, the reduced demand led to a substantial decline in drilling.

California currently has the highest gas prices in the nation. It costs about $4.70 per gallon of regular unleaded. Mono County, California, has the highest gas prices in the state at $6 a gallon.

For many households, it’s not just about restricting holiday travel. People across the US are regularly limiting visits with relatives or cutting out beloved hobbies to save money on gas, according to the New York Times.

Aldo McCoy, who owns an auto repair shop in Toms River, New Jersey, has been putting in extra hours at work and rebudgeting his household expenses to afford rising gas prices.

“You don’t go out to stores much, or out to dinner,” MCCoy told the Times. “You can’t travel to enjoy yourself. It’s off the table now.”

On October 31, five teams of drivers will hit the road from Brooklyn, New York, using only electric vehicles, and will traverse the country over 10 days to their final stop in Los Angeles. The goal of the event, Charge Across America, is to demystify electric vehicles and highlight innovations in the industry.

Each of the drivers brings a diverse set of skills to the road, a common passion for EVs, and an eagerness to demonstrate the vehicles’ burgeoning and exciting capabilities.

One of the drivers, Laycee, known to her followers as “Miss GoElectric,” shared with Charge Across America her motivation for joining the race and some of her strategies for the event.

What inspired you to join Charge Across America?

I know it is important to show everyone that electric cars are already the best mobility choice for many people across the country. We can prove that now is a great time to go electric.

What do you think will be the biggest challenge?

I frequently road trip in my EV but have never been timed for it. Keeping all the rules in mind and figuring out how to maximize moving time will be very important.

What are some of your strategies for the race?

Strategies we will implement include optimizing charging stops for our Mustang Mach E’s charging curve with consideration for the following day’s objectives.  We will strive to make the trip as efficient as possible. Oh and most importantly, have fun.

What’s your favorite EV?

I love my Tesla, and my next EV will probably be a long range pickup truck or full-sized SUV.  The Rivian R1T looks to be first to market and I’ve pre-ordered a 400-mile MaxPack version.  If you are thinking of getting me an EV for my birthday, I’d happily accept a Rimac Nevera.

What excites you most about EVs?

The dramatic improvement to my standard of living is what continues to excite me about EVs.  The ability to affordably and conveniently charge at home, the quiet and peaceful drive experience, and the exhilarating performance all contribute to a joyful lifestyle. My EV has been the most reliable automobile I’ve owned.

What was your first car?

My first car was an Electric Batmobile. Driving it up and down my grandparent’s driveway back in the early 90s was the first time I experienced the famed “EV grin”.

The scrooge may as well take this year off.

Consumers should anticipate price hikes and significant shortages of toys around the holidays, due to the global and ongoing supply chain disruptions, first ignited at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The toy industry remains especially vulnerable since 85% of toys sold in the US are manufactured overseas, according to the Toy Association.

“This is the big one,” Steve Pasierb, president and CEO of the Toy Association, told Cheddar News of the supply chain crisis. “This is the latest and the greatest disruption.”

As a result, toy prices may climb as high as 10 percent around the holidays, Fox News reported.

Massive bottlenecks at ports are to blame. Since the beginning of the pandemic, consumers have been spending less on experiences, and more on actual goods. Demand for toys in ten out of 11 “super” categories increased in the first half of the year, Pasierb told Cheddar News.

But shipping companies can’t keep up with the surge in shopping.

There’s a shortage of shipping containers and prices for these containers have soared. The cost to ship a container from China to the West coast, pre-pandemic, cost about $3,500. Now, it costs more than $20,000. In September, those prices hit a record high

Even when products make it to the US, they’re getting stuck at the ports, which is seeing an unprecedented logjam of container ships. To help ease the backlog, the Biden administration announced that the port of Los Angeles will expand its hours of operations and remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

But even still, the issue is being compounded by a shortage of qualified truckers to transport products to their destination. The US is currently facing a shortage of about 60,000 truck drivers. Many are leaving the industry due to low pay and difficult work conditions.

Mike Landau, CEO of ParkMyFleet, a mobility company, said short-term fixes aren’t sufficient. The industry needs to reevaluate how it treats workers, and how it can modernize the shipping process.

“Truckers need better compensation and conditions to ease the shortage,” said Landau.”AI and Data should be utilized to be able to predict ebbs and flows in the supply chain.”
