Theatre Across Borders – Winnie the Pooh

Join Christopher Robin and that “Silly Old Bear,” Winnie the Pooh, for a cozy adventure perfect for ages 0-10. Search for honey, take a balloon ride with Pooh Bear, make a craft, throw a make-believe party, and tumble along the trails with the characters. Wigglers welcome!

Prepaid registration is required.

$10 per person. Ages 2 and under are free.

Drawing Winter Trees in Ink

Celebrate the quiet beauty of winter with artist Saraiya Kanning in this drawing class focused on the expressive forms of bare trees. Using graphite pencils and ink, participants will explore techniques for rendering bark textures, branch structures, and winter light through line, shading, and composition. All levels welcome – whether you’re new to drawing or looking to deepen your observation skills, this class offers space to connect with nature and creativity. Artists as young as 7 are welcome with an adult. Students can brings their own supplies from the list below or bring an additional $5 supply fee to class.

Prepaid registration is required.

Supply List:

• Pilot V5 Precise Ink Pen
• Medium sized round brush, soft-haired, like Taklon or other brush meant for watercolor (size 13 recommended)
• 140lb. smooth/hot press watercolor paper
• Any pencil and eraser that you like

The puppets are back for the series, “As the Bear Creek Flows” puppet show! You’ll learn about the herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores of Bear Creek. Come prepared for a short, winter hike. Suggested $2 per person or $5 per family donation.

The Friends of El Paso County Nature Centers are taking over the taproom at Mash Mechanix on January 24th from 5:00-10:00 p.m. $1 from each pint sold plus tips will be donated to the non-profit, Friends of El Paso County Nature Centers. Enjoy a brew and fun games, trivia, and more as funds are raised for nature education in the Pikes Peak Region.

Owl Prowl

Winter is an ideal time to observe owls and owl behavior. Learn more about these elusive creatures of the night. We will share stories and folklore, view an owl video, examine owl diets by dissecting an owl pellet, and go for a short night hike in search of owls. Please be on time and dress for the weather.

Recommended for ages 8+.

Nature Hikes with Santa

Participate in an interactive reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” while waiting for Santa to arrive at the Nature Center! Then, hike with Santa to see what gifts nature gives us. Afterwards, enjoy seasonal tunes with the band Peppergrass and make paper snowflakes!

Prepaid registration for a specific session is required. Adults do not need to register and pay, but must accompany their child.

$5 per child/$4 per member child.

Live music sing-a-longs sessions, read-a-louds by Santa, cookies, crafts, and walks along beautiful, luminary-lit trails make this a charming holiday tradition. Meet wolf-dog ambassadors from the Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center and see the winter stars through telescopes with Colorado Springs Astronomical Society members.

Visit the Nature Center on a beautiful fall day to do some holiday shopping! Twenty-eight local crafters and artisans will display and sell their unique creations in Fountain Creek Nature Center. Enjoy the sights and smells of the season while you support local community creators and the Nature Center through your purchases. Free to attend at shop!

Vendors will be selling goods that include books, jewelry, art, knitwear, accessories, canned foods, baked goods, honey, woodwork, stuffies, and more!
