July 20, 2020 – El Paso County’s Planning and Community Development Department recently wrapped up six weeks’ worth of public input on the El Paso County Master Plan. This most recent round of public participation included soliciting feedback from residents and businesses on the topics of “Placetypes”, “Key Areas” and “Areas of Change”. The Master Plan Advisory Committee will be reviewing the public input that was submitted over the six-week period at their July 22nd meeting, and invites the community to participate as they review and discuss this most recent Master Plan feedback.

The Master Plan Advisory Committee Meeting will take place virtually, and community members may watch and participate in the meeting online via the following platforms:

WHEN: Wednesday, July 22, 2020, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

WHERE: The meeting will take place virtually and can be viewed either via Facebook live on the El Paso County Facebook Page or via the county’s cable channel, which can also be viewed online here.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Citizens may submit questions during the meeting by emailing their name, phone number and question to [email protected]

During this meeting, the Master Plan Advisory Committee will review the following topics as they pertain to the El Paso County Master Plan:

  • “Placetypes”: Placetypes characterize specific areas of El Paso County based on their defining character, scale, form, and function instead of identifying individual land uses for every parcel.
  • “Key Areas”: Key Areas have their own unique characteristics and identity, and are generally localized into smaller geographic areas that are firmly established with the County, or have a distinct characteristic that distinguishes them from other areas
  • “Areas of Change”: Areas of Change set the stage for important development and character changes throughout the County, by establishing locations of prominence that should be protected for their historical significance or primed for their development potential.

For more information on the El Paso County Master Plan, please visit the project website.
