Requirements

💡 What to build:

  • 🚀 Build something that enhances PlantMD

  • 🛠️ Create a tool for the welfare of plants or agriculture

  • 🎯 Pitch a concept that addresses climate, crops, or communities

  • 🌱 Or... invent something the world hasn’t seen yet

 What to submit: ✅ Required:

  • Project Demonstration Video (max 3 minutes)
    A short video explaining your idea, showing your prototype, or walking us through your research/design. Be clear, creative, and concise!

  • One of the following, based on your project type:

    • 🧑‍💻 GitHub Repository — for code-based projects (with a README file explaining how it works)

    • 🖼️ Figma Link or Design File — for designers or UI/UX projects

    • 📄 PDF or Document — for research-based or idea-focused submissions (can include concept explanation, benefits, feasibility, etc.)

    • 📌 Any other format — that clearly conveys your idea (e.g., infographic, Notion doc, pitch deck)

📝 Optional:

  • Slide Deck (PDF or link)
    Use this to structure your pitch, show progress, or present your idea during judging. Totally optional — but helpful!

Judging Criteria

  • Implementation
    How well is the idea executed? For coders: Is the code functional, clean, and effective? For others: Is the research/design/prototype well-developed and thoughtfully crafted?
  • Innovation
    How original and creative is the idea? Does it bring a fresh perspective or an unconventional solution to a challenge in plant health, agriculture, or sustainability?
  • Impact
    How meaningful is the potential impact? Does it solve a real problem? Could it improve the welfare of plants, farmers, or the environment in a tangible way?
  • Practicality
    Is the idea realistic and doable? Can this project be implemented or brought to life with existing tools or reasonable resources?
  • Video Presentation
    How clearly and effectively is the idea communicated? Is the demo video engaging? Does it explain the concept, benefits, and functionality in a way that anyone can understand?
