Important notice about a recent RIM update https://pneumasolutions.com/important-notice-about-a-recent-rim-update/ https://pneumasolutions.com/important-notice-about-a-recent-rim-update/#respond Sat, 14 Feb 2026 01:56:50 +0000 https://pneumasolutions.com/?p=1116 We are aware that some machines running RIM encountered a problem when updating to 3.4.8, and that as a result, some unattended target machines are no longer reachable with RIM. The underlying issue is now resolved. If this issue has affected any machines under your control, here is how to recover those machines:

  1. If you haven’t done so already, reboot each affected machine.
  2. Download and run the latest RIM installer from this link: https://download.getrim.app/rimsetup.exe If you are doing this in an automated or scripted environment, use the /S option to run the installer in silent mode. If it’s easier to use a Windows Installer package, you can download one here: https://download.getrim.app/rimsetup.msi Also note that if you previously configured a target installer for a group of unattended target machines, it is not necessary to build a new target installer for this recovery process. But if it’s more convenient for you to build a new pre-configured target installer and deploy it in the same way that you deployed your previous target installer, that will also work. It is not necessary to uninstall RIM before running the latest installer. It is safe to install the latest version of RIM on top of your existing installation.

Once you’ve followed these steps, RIM should return to normal operation. In particular, after following these steps on unattended target machines, those machines should be remotely accessible with RIM again.

Until now, capturing a complete and usable recording of a remote support or training session often meant juggling screen sharing apps, audio tools, and manual setup.
Remote Incident Manager changes that. Remote Incident Manager now includes built-in session recording.

How It Works

This feature allows you to record the full audiovisual output of the remote computer along with the voice conversation during the session. Everything is captured in a single recording.
When the session ends, the recording is automatically saved to your local computer. There is no waiting, no exporting, and no additional configuration required.
Session recording is handled entirely on-device. Recordings are not processed in the cloud and are not stored on third-party servers. You retain full control of the recording file from start to finish.

What Gets recorded

  • The remote system’s audio and visual output
  • The voice conversation during the session

There is no background uploading, no external storage, and no dependency on additional services.

Privacy, Control, and Cost

Session recording in RIM is completely free for all users, including after the Open Beta period ends. Because recording is processed locally, there are no infrastructure costs passed on to customers.

You’ve no doubt been down this road before. You receive a brand-new assignment from the teacher at the last minute, with the need for a hardcopy Braille conversion near non-negotiable. Being the morning of, you haven’t the time to give it the once-over within your Braille translation software, since you already have to convert it from PDF to Word with another application beforehand anyhow. You do a quick conversion, run it through your smaller embosser at home, and rush it to the student for their first-hour class in which it’s needed and…what’s this? Parts of lines spilling over onto other lines? Oddly inconsistent page numbers? You take a quick look, reprint it on your large embosser and, just as you thought, the software had been set to fit the document to the wrong paper dimensions.
