Your Stripe Checkout block now supports Stripe Coupons—so you can run promotions without hacks or custom code.

That means:

New: Members Admin Page

You’ll now find a dedicated admin screen at Users → Members that shows everyone with an active membership or Access Pass.

From this screen you can:

• See all members in one place
• Filter memberships by status
• Export your membership list to CSV for reporting or reconciliation

This makes it much easier to answer “Who actually has access right now?” without jumping between user profiles or Stripe.

Improved: Subscription Management Flow

Give your members more control over their subscription, reduce support, and increase retention.

What’s changed:

• Subscriptions now cancel at the end of the billing period, not immediately
• Users can reactivate their subscription before that date
• When a subscription is pending cancellation, the dashboard displays the cancellation date and replaces the cancel button with “Reactivate subscription”

This provides a nicer experience, avoids unnecessary refunds, and lets members change their minds if they want. Members retain access until the end of the paid period.

If you ever need to force a cancellation or issue a refund immediately, you can still do so directly from your Stripe dashboard.

This release continues our focus on making Members Only smooth, reliable, and delightful for both administrators and end users.

What’s New

Email Notifications

The headline feature of v1.4.0 is customizable email notifications. Your members can now automatically receive emails when important subscription and payment events occur — keeping them informed, reducing support requests, and reducing churn.

You can enable notifications for four key events:

• Subscription Created – Welcome new members the moment they sign up
• Subscription Cancelled – Confirm cancellations and remind members they still have access until their current paid period ends
• Payment Successful – Send receipts when renewal payments go through
• Payment Failed – Alert members immediately so they can update their payment information

Each notification is fully customizable. You can edit the subject line and email content using placeholder tags like {user_name}, {product_name}, {amount}, and more. The intuitive tabbed interface makes it easy to configure each email type.

To get started, head to Settings → Members Only and scroll down to the Email Notifications section.

One-Click Account Page Setup

Setting up your membership site just got faster. We’ve added a “Create New Page” button directly on the settings page. Click it, enter a page title, and Members Only will automatically create the page and assign it as your Account page. No more switching between tabs or manually configuring page settings.

Test Webhook Signing Secret

For developers and site owners who want to test Stripe webhooks while running in Live mode, we’ve added a dedicated Test Webhook Signing Secret field. This makes it easier to debug and test your integration without affecting your production environment.

How to Update

If you have automatic updates enabled, you’ll receive v1.4.0 automatically. Otherwise, head to Plugins → Installed Plugins in your WordPress admin and click “Update” next to Members Only.

Getting Started with Email Notifications

1. Go to Settings → Members Only
2. Scroll to the Email Notifications section
3. Click on a notification type (e.g., “Subscription Created”)
4. Check the Enable checkbox
5. Customize the subject and content as needed
6. Save your settings

We recommend enabling at least the Subscription Created and Payment Failed notifications — they provide the most value for both you and your members.

Granting an Access Pass membership is easy and is all handled on the Add/Edit User page in your WordPress admin.

Adding a new user? Provide the Access Pass start and end dates and Members Only takes care of the rest. See the screenshot below.

What about existing users? No problem. Edit the user, find the Access Pass option, set the dates you want, and click Update User.

Once a user has an Access Pass, you can see it by editing the user’s profile. You can also remove it too, using the Remove Access Pass button.

That’s all there is to it! When a user has an Access Pass, they’re treated the same as paying members and will have access to all the restricted content that a membership provides. Once the End Date of the Access Pass has passed, the user’s access will automatically expire. From that point, you can either grant them a new Access Pass, or they can buy a membership using the integrated Stripe payment block.

The Mailchimp Connector in Members Only allows you to add your members to your Mailchimp mailing list when they sign up for a membership. This is a great way to automate your workflows and keep your members up to date with your latest offerings.

To get started, enable the Mailchimp Connector extension on the Members Only settings page.

Once you’ve enabled the extension, you’ll see a few new settings for configuring your Mailchimp connection.

Once you’ve saved your API key, you’ll be able to select the list members will be added to when they purchase a membership. You can also define the tags you want added to the contact, which is useful for segmenting users in your mailing list.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk about what’s new.

Password resets

We’ve added the ability to request a password reset code from the Login Form. This includes the Login Form block as well as the login form shown in the purchase flow of the Stripe Checkout block.

Users may request a reset code, which is emailed to them. Once they verify the code, they are able to provide a new password.

The feature also includes rate limiting, to help reduce the impact spambot abuse has on your site.

Password strength

We’ve also added some password strength checks to the registration and password reset fields, to prevent users from using common or weak passwords. Users are notified if their password choice is dangerous, and they will be required to provide another one.

Login security

We’ve improved compatibility with third-party security plugins that monitor the login process. For example, plugins like wp-fail2ban listen for failed logins and can block bad actors at the network level when there are too many failed login attempts.

Stripe webhook improvements

We’ve updated the Stripe webhook handler to add better messaging and error reporting. This is helpful if you ever need to debug payment flows or customer questions.

We’ve also adjusted the responses Members Only sends to Stripe in certain circumstances, which improves compatibility with Stripe accounts that are connected to multiple systems.
