These guys! 😕 Same routine with Proton Drive as the last time I posted about it in 2024. Go to their website, go into the Proton Drive app and you find it says its up-to-date with v2.10.3. I'm on their beta testing list and there is not-a-sign of v2.11.1, not in their News, not in Downloads! What goes on?! Is this a Europe special edition version? I malware scanned it! No problems. I checked the app size and found v2.11.1 is around 90 MB larger than 2.10.3. Therefore, I dug into the app package, read the info.plist file and found this version is in "gradual-rollout" mode via Sparkle. OH I SEE. Who else does that, and why? (0_o) - -> So expect Proton dev quirkiness, as per usual. - - I renewed my Unlimited license for another two years because the keep coming up with new and impressive things. (See their website). The positives remain impressive! But these guys.... *sigh* - -> Check out the Reddit group 'Proton Drive' for Q & A. Proton actually read and reply.

Looking for alternative solutions, I started trying the free version of Proton Drive. I uploaded a few files and began writing a document with information I wouldn't entrust to Dropbox or Google Drive. It went well for a few days, then all my documents disappeared, including the confidential text I was working on...everything vanished! I sent a message to support and received a reply apologizing for the delay in processing requests. Since then, nothing, no news at all (it's been about two to three weeks). I didn't have a backup of my text, so I lost everything, including my trust in this product.

v1.11.0 is out. I've attempted to persuade them to (A) Post the current version number of each app on their website. (B) Post links to each app's GitHub page on their website. Sadly, as much as they ask for feedback, they've ignored it. 😤 I've also found their GitHub page for Proton Drive is months out-of-date. 😾 Plus there's also no sign of them automating backups to Proton Drive, and obvious requirement for any backup service. So I've knocked off a couple stars. 💔

The full current version number is 1.1.0.8228. - - I enjoy watching Proton continually add to and improve their software while creating new software. My experience with them is indeed 5 star. - -> (This is the opposite of my experience with Backblaze, whom I would never recommend for backing up anything. Not kidding).
