Welcome to the Political Science and International Relations (or, as we say – PSIR) study program at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS)!
Established in the same year as the university itself in 2004, PSIR has been committed to providing an interdisciplinary education within the Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA).
The Political Science and International Relations study program offers a full complement of undergraduate and postgraduate courses taught in English. The Bachelor’s program comprises 240 ECTS credits, the Master’s program 60 ECTS credits, and the PhD program 180 ECTS credits. Our curriculum is designed to reflect the depth and diversity of the discipline while remaining relevant to policymaking and practitioners’ perspectives. We foster a collaborative environment where students and professors engage actively both inside and outside the classroom through lectures, seminars, research projects, and extracurricular activities.

The Bachelor of Arts in PSIR at IUS is a four-year, eight-semester program of 240 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), broken down into about 30 ECTS per semester. Read more

A PhD is a doctoral research degree and the highest level of academic qualification you can achieve. The degree normally takes between three and four years of full-time work towards a thesis offering an original contribution to your subject of interest.
The 3rd cycle of study is organized and run as a three-year study program and it corresponds to 180 ECTS credits, where candidates acquire ECTS credits by passing exams in courses specified by the curriculum, conducting research in the specific area of the doctoral dissertation, and completing and successfully defending a doctoral dissertation.
Scholarships awarded for undergraduate degrees are assured for a period of five (5) years, regardless of students’ academic success. The exception from this rule are students on 100% scholarship, who must maintain minimum level of CGPA at 3.00.

Practical training/internship period is defined as a student’s work-based learning created by an employer, which provides mentoring and training in line with the individual student-intern’s study program and career goals. It can be performed in companies, non-government organizations, government offices, institutes, medical facilities, or any other institutions that can provide the student with the experience and potential to achieve the learning outcomes set in the syllabus for that practical training/internship course.
Exchange programs are designed in such a way to provide students and academic staff with an opportunity to study, teach and do research at a university abroad.
