April 16, 2024 – All paving companies and developers, please be advised that effective today, Tuesday, April 16, 2024, El Paso County Department of Public Works Development, Engineering Division, has opened all paving of new development within unincorporated El Paso County due to favorable temperatures and expected forecasts of our local area.

Please note: Early season paving is still subject to weather restrictions for the rest of this season, we believe more consistent conditions will be the rule.

The use of Cement Treated Subgrade (CTS) as a base course is under review and we are NOT allowing CTS as a Base Course in Unincorporated El Paso County for the time being.

The El Paso County Highway 105A Project is scheduled to start construction this summer and is expected to continue into 2025. The project extends the 4-lane section of Highway 105 just east of Jackson Creek Parkway to Lake Woodmoor Drive. It includes widening and reconstruction of that section of Highway 105, new curb and gutter, two retaining walls, intersection improvements, new roundabout at Knollwood Drive/Village Ridge Point intersection, traffic signal replaced at Knollwood Drive, a new underground drainage system, sidewalk connectivity, and a water quality pond.

In addition:

• Monument Academy will construct new queuing lanes on the school property site north of Highway 105.
• The Monument Junction developer will construct improvements at the Highway 105/CO-105/Jackson Creek Parkway intersection including a second westbound left turn lane on Highway 105 to southbound Jackson Creek Parkway.

The Town of Monument’s Jackson Creek Parkway Widening Project is currently under design with construction anticipated to begin in early 2024.

This project will expand Jackson Creek Parkway from one lane in each direction to two lanes in each direction (from Higby Road north to Highway 105), extending the four-lane configuration. Also included are drainage improvements, median landscaping, pedestrian and bike pathways, and “Gateway” treatments.

El Paso County, CO, May 4, 2023 – Starting on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, and ending on or near Friday, May 12, 2023, there will be traffic delays between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. due to construction operations for the new bridge on Ellicott Highway north of State Highway 94 between McDaniels Road and Big Springs Road. Flaggers will be onsite, and delays are expected to last approximately 15 minutes. Ellicott Bridge Replacement Project is expected to be completed in approximately 7 months, weather permitting.

Closure:

• One lane will be closed with flaggers.

Detour:

• Temporary onsite detour road to the west of the existing bridge.

Apr 19, 2023 – El Paso County Department of Public Works has contracted with Kiewit Infrastructure Co. for the 2022 Additional Funding Roads Resurfacing Contract. Kiewit Infrastructure will be conducting crack repair operations on Meridian Road N at the intersection with Tourmaline Drive on the morning of April 24th, and it is anticipated to take one (1) working day to complete, weather permitting. The detour is planned to be in place during working hours only, from approximately 7:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. This closure will allow for expedited crack repair through the intersection.

Work will include:

• Removing the existing asphalt
• Conducting necessary subgrade compaction work
• Replacing and compacting the asphalt

Closures and detours:

• Drivers will be detoured while the closures are in place during working hours.
• Access to and from Tourmaline Drive will be maintained for local traffic during working hours.
• The road will reopen completely once the work is completed.

The pile driving will occur between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, weather permitting, and is anticipated to continue for approximately 4 weeks. Ellicott Bridge Replacement Project is expected to be completed in approximately 7 months, weather permitting.

The enhanced version now allows users to easily connect with commissioners to voice concerns or ask questions.

“We are very excited about the launch of this enhanced citizen engagement tool,” said El Paso County Board Chair Cami Bremer. “This new tool helps connect residents and commissioners, making it easier than ever before for people to voice their concerns so we can work together to make our county better.”

This intuitive and user-friendly resource provides a wealth of features that will keep users informed about their service requests and communications with Commissioners.

El Paso County Citizen Connect:

• Enables citizens to report potholes, graffiti, illegal dumping, etc. from the ease of their mobile device.
• Enables citizens to report damage, trash, debris at El Paso County parks, facilities, and trails.
• Offers a convenient way for citizens to contact commissioners and share their concerns. This is an important way to stay engaged with your elected officials and ensure that your voice is heard.
• Can be accessed online through the El Paso County website or through the EPC Citizen Connect app which is available for both iOS and Android devices and can be directly downloaded from mobile phone App Stores.

• Ensures that submissions are tracked and that the appropriate staff members address concerns in a timely and effective manner.
