Group Administrators in the Control Center now can lock certain settings and functionalities for Qdrome mobile app users, ensuring that sending a Broadcast is simpler, accurate, and mistake-free.

Group Administrator can create non-editable Broadcast templates for Qdrome mobile app users

What Does This Mean for Mobile App Users?

In essence, mobile users no longer need to worry about accidentally changing crucial settings. Once the Group Administrator configures a Broadcast template in the Control Center, the user’s role is streamlined—allowing them to modify only the title and description. Sending Broadcasts becomes as easy as pressing a button, reducing the risk of human error and speeding up the process.

It’s also important to note that Group Administrators can prepare both editable and non-editable templates, offering flexibility based on user needs. While non-editable Broadcast templates are locked for specific purposes, users always have the option to create their own fully editable templates. This allows them to adjust settings, customize functionalities, and fine-tune every detail they want. This balance ensures that both simplicity and customization coexist within the app.

non editable broadcast template
A non-editable Broadcast template allows the user to change only the title and a description in the template.
editable broadcast template
An editable Broadcast template allows the user to access the settings and change everything according to their preferences.

Use Cases

1. Elderly Users
In scenarios where your group includes elderly members, this feature truly shines. The Group Administrator can set up Broadcast templates that are ready to go, eliminating any need for the elderly user to navigate Broadcast template settings. With non-editable templates, they simply change the title or description if necessary and press a single button on their mobile device or physical smart Flic button. This makes the app both accessible and foolproof.

2. Drivers, Delivery Personnel, and Field Workers
For those on the move—whether driving, delivering, or working in the field—adjusting mobile settings on the go can be cumbersome and even dangerous. The locked Broadcast template option ensures that reporting and communication from the field is straightforward and correct, minimizing distractions and maximizing efficiency.

3. Building Residents and Property Managers
In the micro-communities of apartment buildings, proper communication and documentation are essential. Whether it’s submitting maintenance requests, reporting security concerns, or recording community incidents, accuracy matters. The non-editable template functionality allows building managers to ensure that each report is categorized correctly, simplifying the process for all residents. Even those less tech-savvy can easily use the app, shortening the learning curve and providing a consistent user experience. Read more about the Qdrome for building residents and building management companies.

Simplifying User Interaction for Maximum Efficiency

This new feature is all about making things easier for everyone involved. With non-editable Broadcast templates, users no longer have to stress over making a mistake, and Group Administrators can be confident that all reports and actions are accurately submitted. At the same time, users retain the freedom to create their own templates and fully customize them when more control is necessary. It’s a win-win solution that enhances usability while ensuring reliability.

Flexible Reports are here.. and much more! https://qdrome.com/flexible-reports-are-here-and-much-more/ Sun, 23 Jun 2024 21:05:34 +0000 https://qdrome.com/?p=7123 Reports are an important functionality for a Group Administrator. But it is equally important that the Group Administrator can adjust the data and create a report according to his needs and then export it in PDF or CSV format.

The variety of possible applications of the Qdrome platform required us to make the reporting functionality extremely flexible and adaptable, so that the Group Administrator could adjust the report in detail to the group’s needs and activities.

What is new?

Flexible and customizable PDF or CSV reports

Once the desired data have been obtained on the screen after filtering, sorting or applying different grouping options, save it as a Report. Keep in mind that everything you see on the screen will be included in the Report (PDF) – eg. If you have a map or graph view turned on, it will be visible in the Report. Of course, export to CSV is only possible as table data.

Different formats and views of PDF reports

You can choose different display formats (from A0 to A5) for your Report and choose whether you want to include only the data from the current screen or all available data.

My Searches

The Group Administrator may have the need to repeatedly search users or broadcasts according to certain criteria, whether he needs it to generate a PDF report or simply wants to facilitate and speed up the search process. For this purpose, a new feature “My Searches” has been added.

After the desired values of filtering, sorting, grouping, display types have been selected, clicking on “Save parametars” saves everything in “My Searches” which can be accessed via the main menu. Searches once created can be replicated with one click.

Qdrome Platform’s Latest Release is Here! https://qdrome.com/qdrome-platforms-latest-release-is-here/ Tue, 13 Feb 2024 17:10:22 +0000 https://qdrome.com/?p=5622 We are happy to announce the release of a new version of the Qdrome platform, both mobile (iOS, Android) and web application (Control Center). This major update brings a lot of new platform-wide features, a better user experience and a lot of interesting improvements.

    What’s new

    Broadcast Types and Tags

tags types control center red cross

The Qdrome platform now allows the Group administrator to predefine the types and tags for the group and each Broadcast type. Those predefined types and tags then can be used by members when reporting incidents (sending Broadcasts and communicate) through the Qdrome mobile app.

This not only accelerates communication during incidents but also lays the foundation for high-quality analysis and data filtering in the Control Center. Group administrators have the power to define specific tags for a particular type of broadcast or the entire group, ensuring efficient and consistent reporting.

    Broadcast Templates (Control center)

The ability to create Broadcast templates makes sending recurring Broadcasts much faster and easier. In addition, the Group administrator can choose which templates will appear to users on the mobile application after installing the application or entering their Group.

    Heat Maps (Control center)

    broadcasts heat map report

Get a bird’s-eye view of incident concentrations with the new heat map feature. This visual representation allows users to filter and explore incident/broadcast data dynamically. The heat maps provide valuable insights into incident patterns, enabling more informed decision-making.

    Graph Reports (Control center)

    broadcasts-graph

Empower your data-driven decision-making with the graph reports feature. The platform now offers graphical representations of the number of incidents/broadcasts reported by members. View incident trends over weekly, monthly, or yearly periods.

Communication and Broadcast Log (Mobile app, Control center)

    log-screen-demo

The new version of the Qdrome mobile app introduces the ability for all involved parties (sender, responders, administrator..) to communicate seamlessly within a specific Broadcast using notes, tags and multimedia (photos, videos, audio files).

The Broadcast Log with timeline is created for each Broadcast. This detailed log captures every action, communication, and update related to the incident, providing a comprehensive historical record. This not only ensures accountability but also aids in post-incident analysis.

Bug fixes and upgrades (Mobile app, Control center)

Due to major changes in the work and features of the platform, this part was really extensive.

    What’s next

Upgrade your Qdrome mobile app now.
While we are working on demo versions for some of the possible applications of the platform, your organization can try Qdrome completely free 🙂

Robbed of the physical presence of others, people are reaching out through tech in order to connect, inform, inspire and teach so that some semblance of normal is kept in this uncertain time.

With numerous apps and platforms supporting and encouraging this around the world, self-isolation becomes a little less lonely. As our pace of life slows down and we get back to the basics, and adjust to the new circumstances human innovation and creativity is leading the way to not only making sense of what is going on, but also in how to live in these new circumstances.

The Heroes Nearby mobile application is an app that connects people who need help with those willing to provide it – the Heroes Nearby.

Here are 5 ways to use the Heroes Nearby mobile application in the time of Covid-19.

Finding new ways to connect and help each other

This is the perfect time to download the app and get your own network of Heroes who are ready to help.

    1. With the health and emergency services and personnel taking tremendous strain, we should not pull those off the frontline where they are so desperately needed. For minor medical emergencies there are numerous heroes nearby trained in first aid and with the right skillset that can help you. Family members and neighbours too that can be added to your private network of heroes. Whether you have an SOS template already set up or have the time to create a new one, medical emergencies that are not life-threatening can be dealt with by people who are not needed on the frontlines.

    2. If you are ill and exhibiting symptoms of the Covid-19 virus, you may choose to self-isolate and may need help with securing your basic supplies. Here the Heroes Nearby app can be used to call out to those that can do a supply run for you and leave it at your door.

Fighting gender-based violence with South African Hero Nearby – Risha Patak-Harie https://qdrome.com/fighting-gender-based-violence-with-south-african-hero-nearby-risha-patak-harie/ https://qdrome.com/fighting-gender-based-violence-with-south-african-hero-nearby-risha-patak-harie/#respond Thu, 02 Sep 2021 10:11:13 +0000 http://MasterQ With a smile that explodes across her face and the kind of positive energy that makes you think anything is possible, Risha Patak Harie tells me the story of her grassroots venture,  i-LEAD. Their motto:  Be Safe. Be strong. Be fabulous, hints at I-LEAD’s mission-to make a real difference in fighting violence against women in South Africa. Risha and her team at i-LEAD have developed a self-defense system for woman and children that aims to prepare us mentally and physically so that if attacked, we have a fighting chance to get to safety. Sounds pretty fabulous so far!

Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, i-LEAD travels the country with their “mobile dojo” offering free self-defense courses for women from all walks of life. In a country with the highest rape statistics in the world and unacceptably high levels of violent crime against women and girls, the fear of violent crime affects many women’s ability to engage in daily activities. i-LEAD is here to put a stop to that.

    From Victim to Leader

The catalyst for the foundation of i-LEAD is unconventional, as Risha says, ‘In 2012, I experienced a near grabbing incident in central Johannesburg, and was able to defend myself and get to safety. The reality is that if I was unable to fight back, I would have been kidnapped. It was through this experience that the i-LEAD Self Defense system was created. There is an absolute need for every women and child to know how to protect themselves and i-LEAD is here to fill that gap. “

    A fighting chance

Born and raised in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and with a background in IT and Corporate Business, she was able to fight back because of her long standing training in Martial arts. It saved her life that day. Turning a horrific experience into a force for good is what makes Risha a hero. Using her skills, working quietly and steadily to improve the lives of other, she embodies the human values of helpfulness, responsibility and family security.

Of her martial arts training she says, “I have always had an interest in martial arts. At the age of 6 I started learning a traditional form of karate called Kyokushinkai. After achieving a first Dan black belt, I then went on to study the Art of Samurai and next Muay Thai fighting. Learning these art forms had more to do with understanding the discipline rather than becoming competitive at a sport. The end goal was always to be in a better position to protect myself. More recently, I have been studying with Johann Haywood of Combat Training Academy focusing on hand-to-hand combat and gun & knife weapons defense. “

    Changing the narrative

    Risha Patak Harie2

i-LEAD began, in 2012, as a community outreach program offering safety awareness and self- defense training at no cost to survivors of human trafficking and domestic / gender based violence. Today, i-LEAD are an established social organization, empowering women and children in SA through self-defense, life skills, access to education and building of job skills.

“The nature of our business involves finding innovative methods to deliver a significant and lasting social impact, that is, helping to change the narrative on violence against women and children. Our research is ongoing and we work daily to better our training delivery methods, find new partners or donors to assist with funding, and most important is the ability to offer a complete empowerment program to women and children.”

A typical work day includes workshops at women’s shelters, outlying rural areas, universities, corporate wellness days or even a privately hosted self-defense party.

Risha channels her amazing energy into i-LEAD daily with the support of her family. She faces many challenges and says of her work, “The impact of a crime or abuse on a person’s life is not something you get accustomed to. It is challenging at times to come to terms with the unfortunate realism of the world. However, we use these experiences to identify gaps and significant areas where i-LEAD can offer more assistance in empowering our students.”

    Hero Organisation

“i-LEAD is all about community and that is why we love and support Heroes Nearby,” says Risha, “Our organization was built upon leveraging community involvement to run campaigns, host workshops, marketing and basically ensuring that we can offer these services to women and kids most in need at no cost.  Over the years we have formed numerous partnerships and are always looking at additional partners to assist the community.”

“We are in awe of the Heroes Nearby Initiative. It is inspiring to see the power of technology and its ability to connect, uplift and build communities. For us, this enables the perfect platform to connect with organizations and individuals nearby also working toward preventing violence. What we love about the application is that anyone can be a Hero and that in itself sends a very important message. We are thrilled and cannot wait for our City of Heroes to unlock! “

Some of i-LEAD’s local community heroes and potential Heroes Nearby Organisations are:

Dr. Tholsia Naidoo (Institute for Quality) – who has fully sponsored free education to numerous survivors of human trafficking, as well as post-schooling internships to severely intellectually challenged scholars that we work with.

Hemal Nana (Penguin Yoga) – who offers his time voluntarily teaching our participants breathing techniques and how to maintain control in life or death situations.

Johann Haywood (Tactical Combat Institute) – who brings years of practical anti-violence experience to the program and contributes his time voluntarily to i-LEAD.

Nadine Hardy Petzer (NuSeed) – who has generously sponsored her venue for workshops as well as healthy treats for the workshops.

Henry Mwale (Top Media) – is an absolute hero for facilitating and motivating for Train-the-Trainer programs within his community.

Riona Patak (i-LEAD) – Riona manages i-LEAD’s KZN operations and is our hero for volunteering her time to teaching women and children how to feel safer.

Sam Barale (Muldersdrift CPF) – who is a pillar of strength within the Muldersdrift community.

Renee Patak – brand ambassador who also generously sponsors training workshops and even self-defense equipment for women’s shelters that we work with

The advice she has to give young South Africans today is, like her, inspiring: “You truly have the power to stand up and make a difference. Every day I meet vibrant young South Africans who are inspired and driven to change their communities for the better. Whatever your cause, do not get weighed down in negativity, keep moving forward. Count every failure, learn from it, and one day WE WILL change the world.“

    Train-the-Trainer

    Risha Patak Harie3

i-LEAD’s Train-the-trainer programs have also lent to building and strengthening relationships within communities. We’ve seen an increase in workshop participants and these numbers alone show how women are gearing up to protect themselves. It is an interesting time in the fight against violence on women. Women and men are standing together and demanding their voices be heard. There is definitely an increase in availability of support groups via social media. A fire has ignited within women in our country and we see anti-violence campaigns gaining traction. Last year i-LEAD proudly supported the #TotalShutdown movement where women marched across the country in solidarity against gender based violence.”

    Safety Tips

Awareness is the most important tip according to Risha! “The more aware you are, the less opportunity anyone has to surprise you. If you are attacked, be vocal. Use your voice to alert others about your situation. There are numerous reasons why someone would scream, from falling to a kidnapping. If you are shouting out “help”, “leave me alone”, “stay away”, “no”, “call the police” or any other action, you increase the attention placed on you and the attacker. Keep all valuables out of sight and do not use earphones as this prevents you from hearing someone approach. And lastly, have a mobile panic button application, like Heroes Nearby installed to get help fast.“

    Safe, Strong and Fabulous

Those are the words she lives by. “We are strong emotionally and physically. By learning self- defense life skills you again prepare yourself to handle most situations. This awareness will help prevent an attack and keep you safe. And, often times we find the need to alter ourselves to accommodate a person or a situation. There is no need to change who you are. Stay true to you and be fabulous. “And that is the essence of South African Hero Risha Patak Harie. She IS strong and safe and fabulous, changing people’s lives, one self-defense move at a time.
