Hi, from the post above:

The dormant Windows 10 taskbar code was removed in Windows 11 version 24H2, and the methods below no longer work. Third-party tools which were using it, including ExplorerPatcher and StartAllBack, came up with a custom taskbar implementation. As a result, 7+ Taskbar Tweaker isn’t compatible with Windows 11 version 24H2, with or without third-party tools.

A workaround is to install Windhawk and find an equivalent mod.

Also, refer to the ExplorerPatcher wiki and the partial list of supported Windhawk mods:

It’s been missing since the Windows 11 update on March 7, 2026, and as a result, 7+ Taskbar Tweaker isn’t working either. Do you know what’s happening or if there’s a possible workaround? Thanks.

There’s an option in the Windows settings to hide the taskbar clock:

Please create a new issue here:
https://github.com/ramensoftware/windhawk-mods/issues

Post your Windows version, a screenshot, debug logs, and try to see if it only happens with specific mod settings.

Thank you Michael. That did the trick. I somehow had a brain fart and passed right over this option as I was focused on a toggle button (as was the case in Windows 10) versus a drop-down menu option (Windows 11).

Hi, have you tried the Windows option for smaller icons?

While I love the restoration of a vertical taskbar that can be docked to the left-hand side of the screen, the current challenge is the incredibly wasted pixel space for each application item within the taskbar.

On Windows 10, there was an option within the native Taskbar settings to “Use small taskbar buttons.” Use of this option removed much of the empty pixel space for each ‘button’ and window title. This significantly consolidated the taskbar and made for a much cleaner look/feel/experience (especially when have a couple dozen application windows open in various apps. The Vertical Taskbar mod helps achieve vertical-ness and setting taskbar width, but at the expense of bloated voids of pixels above and below each taskbar icon/text.
