The North Carolina Business Committee for Education’s Ready, Set, App! challenge is a mobile app development competition for high school students sponsored by Lenovo. Student groups are asked to develop a mobile app using a mobile app development platform (e.g., MIT App Inventor, App Lab, etc.) to solve a problem in their community or school. Ready, Set, App! focuses on three primary pillars:

  1. Mobile App Development

  2. Professional and Personal Development

  3. Interpersonal and Soft Skills Development

Student groups are asked to adhere to the Devpost terms and conditions to be considered for the competition. If groups have any questions, please contact Program Manager Ciera Tucker at [email protected].

This competition is only open to North Carolina high school students who have previously registered for the competition through our site (https://ncbce.org/ready-set-app/) - other submitters will be automatically disqualified.

Requirements

RSA is designed in three phases:

  • Phase 1: Registration
  • Phase 2: Develop + Demo + Pitch Group Reflection
  • Phase 3: Finalist Round

What to create: develop a mobile app using a mobile app development platform (e.g., MIT App Inventor, App Lab, etc.) to solve a problem in their community or school.

What to submit:

  • App Demo & Pitch + Reflection Video (Max 6 minutes)

  • Group Reflection Worksheet

  • APK file

  • Complete and enter information into all required fields of the submission form on hackathon site.

Projects are due on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 11:59 PM.*

*Please note that the Devpost site says the submission period ends on March 20, 2025 at 12:15 am. Please notice that this time says AM, and it is simply to allow a 15-minute grace period for project submissions, as many people run into issues submitting their projects at the last minute. Projects are still due the night of Wednesday, March 19th, and you should try submitting earlier in the day to avoid any issues that tend to arise when waiting until the last minute.

*Please see the Phases tab for more details*
