Changes

  • Added a bootloader choice screen and support for Systemd-boot and rEFInd in addition to GRUB for EFI installations. GRUB is still the only option for BIOS/Legacy boot.
  • The installer does not install os-prober if grub is not selected.
  • Moved fstab generation to later during the installation process to prevent issues with encrypted volumes.
  • The Installer debug window can be launched by clicking on the RebornOS logo.
  • The ISO Welcome app now auto-updates the installer for only new minor patch versions from Github. Major installer releases are not fetched. This is to prevent failure during package installation where the actual fix would be to use a newer ISO/live-medium.
  • The terminal emulator window on the ISO now does not cut-off the fastfetch output.
  • Updated the installer and ISO from upstream, bringing new features and bug-fixes.
  • Minor fixes in the installer configuration.

RebornOS itself will continue to focus on computer systems & laptops while BredOS will continue its focus of being an ARM based Linux system.

We are excited to announce the release of our latest ARM images, which include a multitude of improvements and fixes to enhance your experience. Our development team has been working hard to address several issues with the Orange Pi 5 and Rock5B, including a fix for the left USB 2.0 port and resolving the occasional issue of missing wallpapers in lightdm. We are pleased to report that we have also made performance scheduler the default, resulting in a snappier and more responsive system.

With this release wee now also support Mekotronics devices, including R58X, R58X-4G, and R58S. In addition, our team is currently developing images for Khadas VIM 4 and Cool Pi 4, so stay tuned for further updates!

Hello everyone,

We are ready to announce the first stable release of RebornOS ARM as well as new sponsor for RebornOS
 
First of all we added the Trinity Desktop environment. This is a lightweight desktop that looks similar to windows XP and we fixed SSH access the password is “rebornos”

We have also added the Sway Window manager this is a lightweight drop in replacement for I3 running on Wayland

 
We have a new sponsor that has provided us with hardware allowing us to expand RebornOS ARM onto more devices. A very big special thanks to:
 
Pine64 for providing us with a pinebook pro (expect support soon)
We are also working on support for the Rock 5B
