Method
Reliable and effective carbon dioxide removal starts with measurement.
Measurement is at the heart of Restore Carbon, co-founded by Renze Schram, Jurriaan Reijs, and Paul Smits — all academics with deep expertise in subsurface systems. Renze Schram and Paul Smits are MSc Civil Engineers, and Jurriaan Reijs is a geologist with a PhD.
Together, they pioneer robust measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV), risk mitigation, and monitoring frameworks for subsurface biomass carbon storage in deep, permanently water-saturated peat layers. Restore Carbon’s science-based MRV protocol clearly defines how carbon removal is quantified and verified, ensuring high-quality, durable, and sustainable carbon removal credits with a meaningful impact on climate change mitigation.
