I would not say that this is of direct use to me, but I still have a question: for all I know, there are substantial differences in bioavailability in the area of proteins. In that sense, juxtaposing Harzer Cheese and Broccoli without factoring in bioavailability is not quite correct. I haven’t eaten meat in several years. I’m vegetarian, moving towards vegan, and I use protein supplements to make sure I consume *at least* 1g protein / kg body weight. My background is scientific, yet I don’t do all the calculus. However, I suspect I’m overdosing proteins by 50% or so… I also try keeping carbs at a minimum. 32 years ago I was 105 kg, 20 ears ago I was at 95. Within a year, I dropped that to 75, and since late 2015, my weight stabilized around 70 – 73kg — not the least thanks to daily exercising or garden work. I’m 72 now… Best, -Rolf

How are you able to function? I would be distractedly hangry.

Things didn’t start clicking for me until I picked up a camera at 15, and that unlocked my creative side!

Very relevant for me being in the midst of moving as well. I wonder how this same metaphor could apply for knowledge work.

Ha! Indeed. These wind turbines are not milling flour :) – I have too many EF-S lenses to go full frame. I am going to ride out the wave of Canon APS-C DSLRs I can find used until I am really forced to switch to something else.

Windmills is what they have in Holland (though very few of these were ever real mills: for the bulk of them, “windpumps” would be the proper name). Nice blog! I should some day revive my photo blog. Mine has been resting for two—soon three—generations of photo equipment (essentially since I went full frame…). :-)

Comment on It doesn’t matter to me … by Daniel Reeves https://robfelty.com/2021/06/14/it-doesnt-matter-to-me/comment-page-1#comment-109430 Tue, 15 Jun 2021 21:14:18 +0000 https://robfelty.com/?p=1799#comment-109430 Woo-hoo! This makes me very happy. I have a million quibbly things to say about the mechanics of auction-based decision-making but I think they are beside the point because I’ve come to agree that it doesn’t work unless you put in a totally unreasonable amount of effort (which of course Bethany and I do for fun, so we don’t count) on replacing a whole set of norms with a different set of norms.

… that I enjoyed this short post immensely. We’d all do well to adopt the THINK principle.
