If you’ve ever gazed up at the night sky and wondered how to capture its beauty in a way that does it justice, The Night Photography Book by Erik Kuna is the guide you need in your hands. Kuna doesn’t just share techniques, he takes you by the hand and walks you step by step through the art and science of photographing the night.

From mastering planetary movement to pinpointing the best times for shooting, from photo stacking to sharpening your stars, he covers it all with clarity and practicality. His explanations of gear, accessories, and post-processing tips are refreshingly straightforward, making even complex processes approachable for both beginners and seasoned photographers.

What truly sets this book apart is Kuna’s ability to teach with real-world examples. He’s not just a master of night photography, he’s a mentor who makes you feel like you can master it too. Each chapter reflects not only his expertise but also his passion for helping others unlock their creative potential under the stars.

This book is more than a manual, it’s an invitation to step outside, set up your camera, and witness the night sky in a whole new way. As I head to Utah with camera in hand, I know I’ll be carrying not only my gear but also the lessons from Kuna’s pages. The Night Photography Book isn’t just a reference, it’s a companion for every nighttime adventure.

Comment on Gesture Drawing by Edward Dyson https://rockynook.com/shop/best-sellers/gesture-drawing-dynamic-movement-and-form/#comment-807479 Tue, 26 Aug 2025 00:55:25 +0000 https://rockynook.com/shop/uncategorized/gesture-drawing/#comment-807479 Michael Hampton has mastered the art of gesture when beginning a figure drawing. To avoid a stiff & awkward drawing this book will lead you through a process of lines of movement for each part of the human body. Learn about balance & proportion when drawing the anatomy including spine, head, rib cage, pelvis, arms & legs. Gain confidence when drawing from photo reference or actual live model. Always recognize how & where to begin drawing dynamic figures exhibiting movement & energy. This is definitely a five star drawing book.

Comment on The Fujifilm X100VI by ssaasa https://rockynook.com/shop/camera-manuals/the-fujifilm-x100vi/#comment-806643 Sun, 27 Jul 2025 18:33:10 +0000 https://rockynook.com/shop/uncategorized/the-fujifilm-x100vi/#comment-806643 A very thorough and clear review of this fun camera! I’m a Nikon and film shooter, so I’m new to Fujifilm. I bought the Fuji X100VI to have a “real” camera to take along when a full-sized camera isn’t practical. The menu and film simulations are new to me, and this guide made the process of getting comfortable with my little camera much easier. After reading the first few chapters, I feel much more confident, and I’m excited to discover more!

Comment on The Night Photography Book by Robin Briggs https://rockynook.com/shop/best-sellers/the-night-photography-book/#comment-805357 Mon, 16 Jun 2025 19:15:50 +0000 https://rockynook.com/shop/uncategorized/the-night-photography-book/#comment-805357 What I love about this book is that the chapters are short and actionable. It’s not a ton of theory but has lots of useful and easy-to-remember information, and I was able to start using the information I am learning right away. I also love the tone and how accessible landscape photography is made by the author.

Composition is what is lacking in so many images seen in the media. They simply lack the focus on the subject. Scott approaches it from differing angles and leads the reader to the optimal perspective. Thanks again for yet another tool.

Comment on Fashion School in a Book Design Journal by EMEFA TSIPOTEY https://rockynook.com/shop/ebook/fashion-school-in-a-book-design-journal/#comment-799723 Fri, 13 Dec 2024 10:05:55 +0000 https://rockynook.com/shop/uncategorized/fashion-school-in-a-book-design-journal/#comment-799723 5 Stars.
I’ve been following Zoe Hong since 2021, after enrolling on an online fashion design diploma course with the British Academy of Fashion design. Some of the tutors and students share Zoe’s content to help with assignments. I have watch several of Zoe’s YouTube videos over the years and putting what she has taught in a book and the appropriate order with the journal is a fool proof way in making sure your do not miss anything during your design process.

I would suggest you buy the Fashion School in a Book and Journal together and watch Zoe’s YouTube videos to get a broader understanding on fashion design process and to develop your skills. As Zoe’s said, ‘the learning is in the doing’!!. I took a break from my course due to personal reasons and will start in the new year. The journal is a game changer as it will feel like Zoe will be guiding me through this process. I am a complete beginner and this book is beginner friendly. If this is not enough, subscribe to Zoe’s Patreon.

Zoe has given so much to us in terms of content for free so buying this book not only supports Zoe but also most of her online content is contained in a book which you can take anywhere offline, which is helpful.

I am looking forward to the hard copies of both books. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge Zoe!!

His books are all wonderful, but this one, wow!! Definitely helpful and beautifully done! Easy to read, understand and the photography depicts everything he discusses in the chapters. Scott demonstrates his amazing skills as a photographer and an educator; whether novice or expert, you will come away with knowledge and appreciation of photography. Oh and by the way, it looks great on the coffee table but it’s so good, you won’t want to put it down.

Comment on Within the Frame, 10th Anniversary Edition by David Rogers https://rockynook.com/shop/art-and-inspiration/within-the-frame-10th-anniversary-edition/#comment-797163 Mon, 18 Nov 2024 16:12:53 +0000 https://rockynook.com/shop/uncategorized/within-the-frame-10th-anniversary-edition/#comment-797163 I do not make a living selling photography, and I am retired. Photography and I go back to my teen age days, I even went to school to be a photographer. A photographer yes, however schools do not teach introverts to be extroverts and learn sales. My introspection made me realize ( when I was listening ) my best work happened when I created photographs for my inner self. David duChemin reflects what I have learned over the years and expands upon that learning. In hindsight I wish Within The Frame had been around in the early 1970s.
