When Marshawn Kneeland (an active player for the Dallas Cowboys who’d just scored a TD) died by suicide in November, I was so upset that the NFL simply asked teams to: have a moment of silence, & put up the 988 number.
No announcement of programmatic change? No culture change initiatives? No new eduction?
I was presenting to La Salle athletes the following wk & shared w them how proud I was that they were bringing us in to address MH proactively, but that I feared more losses in the NFL bc of how little was done for true change. I wish I was wrong - given what happened to Rondale.
A.J. Green (Rondale’s former teammate) just shared a heartbreaking tribute to his ‘third & oldest son,’ Rondale, in The Players’ Tribune.
In it, he celebrates Rondale’s life... but he’s demanding we stop pretending awareness alone is enough.
The truth? Rules, initiatives, & public statements mean NOTHING if front offices still see MH struggles as a ‘red flag’ that kills contracts & careers. Players get incentivized to lie, feel shame, & skip help—leading to more tragedies.
NFL culture didn’t cause it, but it sure didn’t help him thru the dips after major injuries & identity loss the last 2 seasons.
AJ’s recommendations? Mandatory independent mental health counseling as part of rehab after big injuries—& extended support after multiples. No more viewing it as a liability.
But we have seen - real change needs buy-in from the TOP: coaches, GMs, owners, leagues at every level—from youth to pro. Leaders who get that we ALL have mental health, even the final decision-makers. It takes a community approach that includes the leaders in: 1) sequential programming w lived-experience advocates, 2) workshops with true vulnerability shared, 3) tools that connect the community thru common language, 4) peer support networks (& that’s just the START).
If this hits home, share this carousel far & wide. Tag someone who needs to know they’re not alone. Change starts when we acknowledge the status quo isn’t working.
You’re not alone - We ALL have mental health.

Some moments are bigger than the game. And some you can’t explain unless there is some kinda master plan to this all. Check this out…
USF Coach Bryan Hodgson was taken in as a foster kid at age 2 and given a second chance at life by his adoptive dad. For the past 3 years as a head coach, dementia has kept his father from traveling to see a single game in person.
Until now.
If you follow the NCAA Tournament selection process - teams from anywhere (especially lower seeds) can be sent anywhere around the country to play their first round games. Well…The NCAA Tournament bracket delivered the perfect gift for Hodgsons this year: USF’s first-round game in is Buffalo—right near where Bryan’s father - suffering with dementia, lives. So, his dad can finally be in the stands to watch him be an NCAA head basketball coach, live. For the first time ever - and it’s in the NCAA Tournament. Literally the ONLY arena in the country this could have happened for them.
Listen to this video on the second slide ➡️ - and how Bryan share’s his faith: “God is so good… My dad’s gonna be in the stands.”
Cherish your people, support families facing dementia and any/all forms of mental health battles, share this post to help normalize these convos…and remember: love and second chances win every time.

Social media encourages its influencers to sell mental health stories with celeb drama + big labels in order to go viral.
Swipe to see how they spun a recent NBA star’s real-life challenges into (what they claimed was self proclaimed) “silent depression”…tragedy porn...
Here’s the reality check: there is no hype needed. Mental health is everyday human stuff we ALL navigate—no exaggeration required.

Throwing it back to the 90s seems to be the current trend…and for me as you can see in these pics, it was where life was all about sports, laughs, friends, family, and zero thoughts about mental health.
I didn’t think “it” applied to me. I was too busy living.
But those smiles hid unaddressed trauma I kept pushing aside. The sickness of family members I was living with that lasted over 20 years of nonstop hospital visits, treatments, surgeries, transplants, calls from police & care workers about terrible accidents, all while “what if” scenarios played over and over again in my mind. But, avoidance through fun and accomplishments worked…until it didn’t.
Rock bottom (being ran through a mental health system that is not set up to help us when we begin to truly struggle) taught me: We ALL have mental health. Ignoring it doesn’t make it go away—it just makes it build beneath the surface till some form of a crash happens.
Now I feel so fortunate to be asked to speak globally, and to be steering a team building a Movement to help us get in front of it. The mess led to a message…to purpose.
What started in the 90s and even the decade before, manifested later on…and then led to this work. Swipe for a recap of much of the journey → Your story matters. Share if this hits home.

Gary Woodland, a winner of 4 PGA Tour events including the U.S. Open (a Major - correction* on the opening slide), looked determined and like a workhorse on the course—until a brain lesion changed everything.
In 2023, he underwent life-saving brain surgery that left him battling severe emotional trauma that lingered: hypervigilance that turned everyday moments into threats, blurry vision and panic during rounds, hiding in bathrooms to cry, even breaking down in the middle of a fairway at the Ryder Cup.
He describes it raw: “Inside I feel like I’m dying… and I’m living a lie.” For a stretch, the pro golfer hid the pain behind a smile, fearing it would define him more than his major win ever could. But now, he’s done pretending—he’s sharing the unfiltered truth because he refuses to waste energy on secrecy anymore.
This isn’t just a golf story; it’s a human one. Gary’s opening up to show that even the strongest among us—champions who win majors under pressure—can struggle in silence with mental health challenges. His hope? That someone watching, who’s fighting their own invisible battles, sees him still out there competing, still pushing forward, and feels a spark of encouragement:
“You just can’t do this on your own, no matter how strong you think you are.” If you’re carrying something heavy, know you’re not weak for feeling it—you’re brave for facing it. Mental health is health.
Share with - not only any golfer but - and HUMAN who needs to hear this message!

If you’ve been following the last couple of months, I’ve been getting more and more vocal about how some therapist and coach “influencer” accounts - act more like “sinfluncers” - attacking our human nature. They prey on our desires for simple answers, and for those who we can blame.
They tell us about the “narcissistic” family member, how we were the “parentified” child, or simply - what role of victimhood we live(d) in. They do this so that they can come in with their: healing circle or master class or ebook, telling us how - THEY can fix US.
But here’s the reality for whatever you’ve been through over however many years:
Yes, your pain was real.
No, you didn’t deserve it.
You were hurt — and that reality matters.
But refusing to let that pain write the rest of your story
isn’t denying what happened…
it’s deciding who gets to drive your life from here.
Your future is still yours.
You can claim it - and you get to decide that.
We’d love to hear what you’ve chosen to overcome👇. Or to hear how staying in victim mentality at first may have hurt you, now that you’ve taken back your power.
Share in your Stores or repost for who needs to hear this - or to tell those in your life who you want to know - that you’re not gonna live that way any more!

This is what true support looks like in grief. 💔🤙
Not for cameras. Just “family” (blood or not) that shows up — no matter what.
Uncle Matty (Matthew Tkachuk) is here in this pic sitting on the floor gaming with Noa (Johnny Gaudreau’s daughter) the night before the Florida Panthers face Columbus…(last night) - quiet, consistent care long after the world moved on from the Olympics.
Flashback to the big one though: Team USA winning historic gold (first since 1980) and carrying Noa and her brother Johnny Jr. onto the ice — holding Johnny Gaudreau’s number 13 high so he’s part of every celebration.
Grief doesn’t fade with time or trophies. But real family refuses to fade either. These moments — big and small — prove love shows up every single day.
For all the skeptics who thought that what took place on the ice was a show - it was not. This is genuine care.
Who in your life is that “aunty” or “uncle”? The one who checks in, sits on the couch, stays through it all.
Tag them below 👇 or share this post with them — tell them how much you appreciate them.
There are a few friends I’ve personally lost and it’s important to me to still be there for their kids - bc I want them to know they are loved.
Normalize showing up in grief.
We all have mental health.
We don’t have to grieve alone.

A likely first round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, KC Concepcion stuttered at the NFL Combine—and bullies online (and even in the media) tried to tear him down.
But he’s rising as a top WR prospect, a potential first-round beast, and a hero for every kid facing stutters or - being bullied for any differences they have that are pointed out.
His story screams RESILIENCE: Overcome the hate, own your power, and dominate.
We’re all about turning vulnerabilities into victories. Turning the “mess” into a message.
Would you draft him for his grit alone? Do you think overcoming challenges (and voices like this) make you stronger and an even better prospect with a greater chance at success? We do. Share how you feel! Slide through ➡️ for the full inspo.

So many of you are extremely passionate about topics you post about. In this community, especially if you look back in comments on posts - people typically share about real/impactful topics vs a pic of what they ate for lunch.
In posting, many of you have shared with me how tiring it is to feel dropped, unfollowed, or even hated (sometimes by friends and family) just because they don’t align with you 100% on every single issue.
As someone who posts almost daily - it leaves me and us open to scrutiny in a similar way - often! We can have folks agree with us 95% of the time, but the 5% they don’t - it can often flip them to say…”you all are not for me…I can’t believe you feel this way or support this position.”
So, Same Here, for what you all can feel when sharing your opinions.
The world is very complex right now - and so many are losing real connections over ONE or a FEW differing opinions.
You’re allowed to be complex. You’re allowed to mostly agree. And the people who cancel you for the rest? They’re the ones losing nuance when we need it most. Yes some folks have topics and perspectives that are “non negotiables.” But how realistic is that when it’s taking a person’s singular opinion with limited character space, and applying it to ALL they stand for?
Share if this hits. Or share to applaud someone who’s stood by you despite disagreements. Maybe share if someone needs to hear that they should be by your side, even in the disagreements.
Let’s hear your opinions 👇 and as always, open debate (respectfully) is encouraged.

Coach Mike Vrabel just showed us in an interview at the NFL Combine that he knows that having success isn’t just about what takes place on the field—it’s in the check-ins off of it, that go deeper than “How are you?”
Watch him speak on mental health in his locker rooms, and even how he rallies his players after a tough Super Bowl loss.
In light of losing Marshawn Kneeland and Rondale Moore to suicide far too close together, this is a powerful reminder: Reach out, ask the real questions, listen deeply. Mental health is strength and we need more coaches, leaders, managers, parents, teachers, administrators taking this seriously, having a PLAN and establishing common language like the SameHere Scale!
Share with someone who needs this, or share and leave comments so that leaders in your community wake up to the need that is there for ALL members of their groups.
