Data Day 12.0: Now What? Leading, Working, and Learning When AI Does the Work

Jointly hosted by the Faculty of Science and the Carleton University Institute for Data Science (CUIDS), Data Day is an annual conference that celebrates the latest developments in data science and analytics research.

Data Day 12.0 will take place on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 in Carleton’s Richcraft Hall Atrium. A full schedule of events will be posted closer to the event date.

Data Day includes panel discussions by Carleton researchers and industry experts, networking opportunities, and a poster showcase to display student research in data science across all disciplines.

The theme of Data Day 12.0 is Now What? Leading, Working, and Learning When AI Does the Work. This is a must-attend event for those studying or working in data science, analytics, and related fields!

Keynote Speaker: Nik Nanos, Chief Data Scientist, Nanos Research & Chancellor, Carleton University

In his keynote address, renowned public opinion researcher Nik Nanos will explore the next era of data science—from how the profession’s value proposition is evolving to how organizations will generate enterprise value from data at scale. As founder of Nanos Research, he brings a practitioner’s and an employer’s perspective shaped by decades as both a working data scientist and an entrepreneur turning insight into real‑world impact.

About Chancellor Nik Nanos:

As the Chief Data Scientist at Nanos Research, Nik has led thousands of research projects in Canada and around the world ranging from market studies, customer satisfaction tracking, creative testing, program development and reputation management.

He is the Chief Data Scientist and Founder of Nanos Research, the 13th Chancellor of Carleton University in Ottawa, and a research adjunct professor at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. Nik also served on Carleton’s Board of Governors between 2014 to 2022 including a term as Chairperson.

Nik leads the team behind the weekly Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index which is streamed to Bloomberg terminals globally every Monday Morning. He is featured in a weekly segment on CTV’s News Channel, Nanos on the Numbers, which focuses on the latest political, business, and social
trends. He is the pollster of record for CTV News, Canada’s largest private broadcaster, the Globe & Mail, Canada’s national newspaper, Bloomberg News in Canada. In 2023, he was appointed a member of the Order of Canada for his work in the research industry.
