I am estranged from my only daughter, a beautiful young woman whose shadows I live in as she has been turned against me by her manipulative and abusive father. I live with my grief yet hold the hope that one day she will return to her mother. Until then I have faith over fear.

I loved the way how you have broken it down into three acts and now looking back each of them come with their own purpose and lessons. I am also the solo caretaker of my mother who has cognituve decline. Growing up , I also thought that I knew better than her and why she and we could never see each other eye to eye but now that I am older I acknowledge that she has been my perfect teacher and I would not want anything different than who she was as a mother – an epitome of resilience and sacrifice, I understand her so well now but the greatest irony is that I cannot make her understand due to her cognitive decline. I loved the way you expressed and this was very relatable in more ways than one .

To afford this, I know that I will need to work part time. I have not applied for work yet. As of this summer, I will be retired from teaching for two years. I am 58 and have some health issues, which can sometimes add additional expenses. I feel that as long as I am able to work, I will should be able to travel. This would be my reward for working.

Comment on Estate Considerations When Housing Wealth Is Involved by Moe Nelson https://sixtyandme.com/estate-considerations/#comment-44294 Sat, 21 Mar 2026 17:17:12 +0000 https://sixtyandme.com/?p=92756#comment-44294 In reply to Nikki Finlay.

Hi Nikki,

That’s a very clear and thoughtful approach and one that often makes things much simpler for everyone involved.

When there isn’t a strong sentimental attachment to the home itself, planning for it to be sold and used as a financial resource can give heirs flexibility and reduce the likelihood of difficult decisions later on.

What really stands out is the clarity you have around this. That alone can be an incredible gift to your sons, as it helps remove uncertainty and allows them to move forward with confidence when the time comes.

Thank you for sharing your perspective it’s very helpful for others thinking through similar decisions.

Warmly,
Moe

Comment on From Vinyl to Spotify: How the Way We Listen to Music Has Changed by Lisa S https://sixtyandme.com/vinyl-to-spotify/#comment-44292 Sat, 21 Mar 2026 15:56:46 +0000 https://sixtyandme.com/?p=92540#comment-44292 I’m laughing, reading this! I still have a huge collection of vinyls, although I gave the 45s from my early teens to a friend who bought a jukebox. Plenty of CDs, too. I have an upscale stereo system that needs a little help, but also an all-in-one that plays vinyls, CDs, and cassettes, as well as a radio. I do play some of my vinyls, since some of the music I have is not available on CD. Besides, it would be very expensive to buy so many, although I buy used on ebay.

I would visit a death cafe.

I’ll try having a cup of tea instead of a quick snack mid-afternoon.

Those press trip meals are dangerous for anyone’s waistline!

Great suggestions. Thanks.

Hi Nancy, Wow, what timing! And what a blessing to be able to say “goodbye.” I’m sorry for your loss and hope the grieving process isn’t too difficult for you. What a gift to have had a friendship for that many years and to have shared so much of life together. That’s a lot to be grateful for – may that soothe your hurt. -Dr. Kurt

Hi Sylvia, Thank you so much for commenting. It’s interesting to hear how the changes in your social circle are impacting you and the challenges that come with it. Ironically, I think I’m in that other circle – my wife and I visit our 91-year-old former neighbor every other week and we probably fall into that social circle for her. We do find many connecting points despite the age gap, and greatly enjoy the time together. Thank you again for sharing your experience. -Dr. Kurt

Hi Peggy,
That particular image was just for illustration, but I did some research for you and found the following 3 options I think would be a good match:
https://www.beyondpolish.com/products/opi-gelcolor-charmed-i-m-sure-0-5-oz-hpp07
https://www.amazon.com/Born-Pretty-Magnetic-Polish-Manicure/dp/B0DFH8VVS7?th=1
https://www.biosculpturenails.com/products/gemini-14ml-nourishing-polish-no-2018-passion-plum

Of course, this is just looking at product images, so I can’t guarantee the result would be the same. But it looks pretty close.
