The Call for Papers for the 8th International
Open Search Symposium is open! Deadline is March 1, 2026.
This years theme is Boosting Digital Sovereignty.
The conference will be held in Berlin in October, free of charge and is organized by the Open Search Foundation.

There is also a Call for Demos to young researchers and students to showcase their innovative work using the Open Web Index of the OpenWebSearch.eu project.

CAS is an initiative aimed at strengthening open, sovereign, and self-hosted identity infrastructure on the internet. It's an open source identity provider for all applications deployed by an organization at scale, supporting hundreds of thousands of users.
They recently posted on their community blog about the work they've planned with financial support from the NGI0 Commons Fund. It gives a good idea of what the project does and where it is going.

Each year we are excited to see how many NLnet grantees we can spot in the list of @fosdem speakers. This year is a new high with over 100 speakers!

We’re happy to share that the Proton community picked NLnet as a beneficiary for the annual Proton fundraiser. The privacy-minded Swiss company is raffling off 10 Proton Lifetime Accounts. Proceeds go to 10 organisations who share the vision of a private, secure & open internet.
Other beneficiaries are digital champions @edri, @digiges and many others.
The Proton Foundation will contribute $200,000 in matching funds.

The three projects are:
Libre Payments in Ruby, a GNU Taler Integration for ethical trade.
Taler in Liberapay, an implementation of Taler as payment provider in Liberapay.
