Q: Team or solo?
A: Both! up to 1-4 members.Q: How to find teammates? A: Find teammates before the hackathon starts or during the hackathon by using the #find-a-team channel in the STEAM Fest Discord.
Q: What to build? A: You can build a gaming website, gaming app or app. A game or app whose topic or theme is an extracurricular activity, hobby, OR your favorite cause relating to STEAM.
Q: Format of Hack? A: We are only accepting new projects. You can brainstorm beforehand but please do not code beforehand.
Q: Are international participants allowed? A: Yes! This is an online hackathon so anyone in any location can participate Q: Is this beginner-friendly? A: No. STEAM Fest does not have any events or workshops related to the hackathon or CS. Please keep this in mind Q: When do submissions start? A: You can start working on your project on June 17 and it must be submitted by June 23 at 11:59 pm EST Q: Who do I reach out to if I have a question? What to Build
You can build a gaming website, gaming app, or app. A game or app whose topic or theme is an extracurricular activity, hobby, OR your favorite cause relating to STEAM.
What to Submit
- Demo Video:

Articulate the STEAM topic your design follows and emphasize its value to users, while highlighting its innovative and distinctive features.
- Showcase how your project works

Keep the video concise (less than 4 min), and publicly accessible on YouTube.

- Access to Your Working Application: Provide the necessary details for judges to access your application, whether it's a test account or a website. Make sure the instructions are clear and straightforward. (New Project Only)
- GitHub Link: Include a link to your application's code on GitHub. Your repository can be public or private. If it's private, please provide access in your testing instructions. Remember to include all necessary deployment files and testing instructions to facilitate the testing of your application.

Judging Criteria

Originality
A copycat idea doesn’t impress anyone. You should be taking a fresh approach to your topic or idea. How much edge does the idea have? Is it original and cleverly thought out? -
User Experience + Visual Design
How easy is it to navigate/use/play? How appealing is it to look at? Is a demo readily available? -
Hackathon Fit
Did the participant complete the goal? If they did not, the project will be disqualified from judging. -
Functionality
Does the project work as described? Are there issues/bugs? -
Extra Bits
How complex is the project? Does it use advanced topics like ML, client/server communications, 3D graphics, game physics etc.? These are not required but will give you an extra boost.
