St. John's Hacks - Official Rules

Eligibility

  • Open to St. John's University undergraduate & graduate students
  • All majors are welcome!
  • Teams of 2-4 required
  • Must be present in-person at St. Augustine Hall, 2nd Floor at St. John's University - Queens Campus

Projects

  • No pre-built projects - all projects must be started after the opening ceremony
  • Organizers & Judges will be checking to ensure projects are eligible.
  • Violations = Disqualification

Allowed Tech

  • Use any languages, tools, or frameworks
  • The use of AI is allowed
  • Cite any external resources, datasets, and APIs used

Submissions

  • Each submission must include:
    • Project name & short description
    • Link to GitHub repo
    • 1-2 minute demo (hosted on YouTube or Google Drive)
    • Technologies used
    • Team member names
    • Track category

Judging Criteria

  • Innovation
    • Is your project creative or unique?
  • Functionality
    • Does the project work as intended?
  • Impact
    • Does the project address a real-world problem or provide meaningful value?
  • Creativity
    • Is it clean, accessible, and intuitive?

Conduct

  • Be kind, respectful, and inclusive
  • Harrassment, hate speech, or misconduct will not be tolerated
  • Violations can result in removal from the event
