Strata Networks is proud to announce the substantial completion of a city-wide fiber overbuild in Lehi, marking a major milestone in bringing next-generation connectivity to one of Utah’s fastest-growing communities. With construction now considered substantially complete, residents and businesses all across Lehi have access to 10-Gig internet speeds through the most advanced fiber-optic technology in the world.

For residents, the new network means faster streaming, smoother remote work, and reliable connections for online learning and telehealth. For businesses, it provides the bandwidth to compete globally and support growth in Utah’s tech corridor.

In response to strong demand from Lehi residents for more internet options, construction began in 2022 to replace and upgrade existing infrastructure with fiber and extend new fiber throughout the city. In total, more than 2.1 million feet of fiber have been placed, bringing world-class connectivity to nearly 23,000 homes and businesses.

“I am very proud of the teams at Strata who poured their expertise and dedication into making this network a reality,” said Strata Networks Chief Executive Officer Bruce Todd. “This accomplishment demonstrates what’s possible when skilled people, strong community partnerships, and a shared vision come together. The Lehi project is one of the largest builds in our company’s history, and it represents an incredible step forward for the Lehi community as we’ve laid the foundation for growth, innovation, and opportunity for years to come.”

The Lehi Fiber Network is the result of a unique public–private partnership between Strata Networks and Lehi City. Through this model, the City of Lehi retains ownership of the fiber infrastructure while Strata serves as the experienced partner responsible for construction, management, and operation of the network. This approach not only accelerated deployment and reduced costs but also ensures that the network remains a long-term community asset.

“Completing the Lehi Fiber Network is a milestone moment for our community,” said Lehi Mayor Mark Johnson. “This success reflects strong partnerships and a shared vision to keep Lehi connected, competitive, and future-ready. Our residents have shown tremendous support, and together with Strata Networks, we’ve built an infrastructure that will serve Lehi families and businesses for generations to come.”

Unlike traditional networks, the Lehi Fiber Network was designed as an open-access network, which means customers aren’t tied to just one company—they can choose the provider that best fits their needs, with the confidence that every option runs on the same world-class fiber infrastructure. This model increases competition, improves service quality, and ensures affordable pricing. The Lehi Fiber Network currently features the following ISPs: Beehive Broadband, Centracom, Intellipop, Sumo Fiber, and Xmission.

Customers are noticing the difference. In a recent survey of customers, the Lehi Fiber Network earned a Net Promoter Score of 56.04, nearly double the industry average – showing just how much residents appreciate the reliability, speed, and freedom of choice the network provides.

With the majority of construction now concluded, Strata Networks will continue to manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of the city-wide fiber network. Lehi residents and businesses can start enjoying the benefits of 10-Gig internet by signing up today through one of the participating ISPs at lehifibernetwork.gov.

Strata Networks has pledged $70,000 to Utah State University Uintah Basin (USU Uintah Basin) to support scholarships and programmatic initiatives for students pursuing degrees in technology and business. This contribution builds upon a previous commitment made in 2021 and reflects Strata’s ongoing investment in education and workforce development in the region.

The total contribution will be granted over a three-year period with $45,000 going toward student scholarships, awarding five scholarships annually, each valued at $3,000, with preference given to those studying technology or business-related fields. The remaining $25,000 will support the faculty in the Business and IT programs, in partnership with the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. These funds will help create engaging, hands-on learning opportunities that strengthen students’ skillsets and better prepare them for the workforce.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with Utah State University and help cultivate the next generation of professionals in our region,” said Strata Networks CEO/General Manager Bruce Todd. “As a company rooted in technology, we understand the value of investing in students who will drive future innovation. This partnership reflects our commitment to education, economic development, and the long-term success of our communities.”

This renewed gift is part of a long-standing collaboration between Strata and USU Uintah Basin to strengthen opportunities for students across the Uintah Basin.

“Strata Networks has always been, and continues to be, a strong supporter of higher education,” said David Law, associate vice president for USU Uintah Basin. “Utah State University faculty and students will use Strata’s latest gift of $70,000 for scholarships and program support in General Technology, Technology Systems, and Business. Our faculty in these areas, Daphne Blanchard and Michael Baily, will work collaboratively with Strata Networks to identify and implement ideas that provide mutual benefit for our students and Strata Networks. Strata Networks is an ideal community partner. I thank them not only for their support of Utah State University Uintah Basin, but for everything they do that enhances everyone’s quality of life in the Uintah Basin.”

Strata also maintains a similar partnership with Uintah Basin Technical College (UBTech), offering scholarships and programmatic support to help students succeed in high-demand technical fields. The UBTech program is designed to complement USU’s General Technology Program by providing foundational skills and training that provide a pathway for students to continue on to advanced education and career readiness.

With the help of the community, sponsors, and partners, Strata Networks is proud to announce that this year’s Charity Golf Classic raised a total of $37,299.20 in support of Disabled Outdoorsmen Utah (DoUtah), a local nonprofit dedicated to making the outdoors more accessible for individuals with disabilities.

The funds raised include a generous $15,000 donation match from Strata’s lending partner, CoBank, whose support helped amplify the impact of the event and the generosity of the community. With CoBank’s match, this year’s donation marks a record-breaking milestone – the largest amount ever raised in the 24-year history of the Strata Charity Golf Classic. During that time, the event has raised nearly $415,000 for local charitable organizations throughout the Uintah Basin.

“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support shown by our sponsors, participants, and partners,” said Bruce Todd, General Manager/CEO of Strata Networks. “This event is always about more than golf—it’s about coming together as a community to make a difference. With CoBank’s match and the dedication of all involved, we’re proud to help DoUtah continue their mission of breaking down barriers to the outdoors for people with disabilities.”

Strata’s Charity Golf Classic has become a hallmark event for the region, uniting local businesses and community members around a meaningful cause. This year’s two-day tournament was held at Roosevelt City Golf Course on May 16 and Dinaland Golf Course in Vernal on May 23, featuring both the traditional four-man scramble and a new two-man best ball format that was met with enthusiasm by players. Proceeds from the event will stay entirely within the Uintah Basin, helping local individuals and families experience the great outdoors.

“We are immensely grateful for the generous donation from Strata Networks, which will significantly enhance our ability to serve the community at DoUtah,” said Mike Felice, DoUtah President. “This funding will empower us to expand our programs, reach more individuals in need, and create lasting positive change. We appreciate the commitment of Strata Networks and everyone involved in making this possible. Together, we are building a brighter future for those we serve.”

Founded in 2019, DoUtah removes barriers for disabled individuals by offering free hunting, fishing, camping, and outdoor adventures. To date, they have impacted over 10,000 individuals and provide direct support to 1,000+ annually. Their programs and services include providing adaptable vehicle repairs, home accessibility solutions, outdoor mobility equipment, one-on-one outdoor experiences and group & family events.

Strata Networks held its 72nd Annual Meeting on June 5th, which showcased efforts made to expand connectivity throughout the Uintah Basin as well as new ventures to diversify the company and bring new success. During the meeting, it was announced that the following Board of Directors were elected to serve a three-year term: Ashley Shiner, Altamont District; Bart Miller, Neola District; and Richard Ross, Roosevelt District.

The meeting featured presentations from several key employees and members of the Board of Directors. Secretary/Treasurer Dana Shepard presented a financial overview, celebrating improved profitability and increased revenue in 2024—with nearly 35% resulting from projects in new markets. Shepard emphasized the impact of these financial successes, which ultimately allow the company to support the local community through job creation, donations, scholarship programs, fundraisers, and more.

This same sentiment was echoed by Board President Ashley Shiner who recognized the value of Strata’s partnerships with Lehi & Providence cities to build and operate municipal fiber networks.

“These partnerships don’t just provide essential services to communities—they bring substantial revenue back into our region, keeping our dollars working for our neighbors and our communities here locally,” Shiner said. “When we invest in municipal broadband networks, emergency communication systems, and digital infrastructure projects, we’re not just building networks—we’re building the economic foundation that allows our Basin to compete and prosper in an increasingly connected world.”

During Manager Bruce Todd’s report, members heard from several Strata employees who shared details on many aspects of the cooperative, including business development efforts and diversification strategies, which included several subsidiary companies that were highlighted. Members also learned of the regulatory challenges and opportunities that affect the telecommunications industry. The cooperative is actively engaged in funding opportunities like the Broadband Equity and Deployment (BEAD) program, which aims to make broadband more accessible to underserved areas.

Among the updates shared was an exciting effort underway to accelerate the availability of high-speed internet through next-generation fixed wireless technology. According to Manager Todd’s written report, the company launched the service in late 2024, “delivering up to 15x faster speeds – with the potential for even more – to approximately 1,200 customers in just the last eight months.” The report further states that the company’s rollout of this technology will focus initially on areas of the biggest need, while continuing to focus on expanding its fiber network simultaneously, which now consists of more than 16,500 locations.

It was also announced that the cooperative plans to discontinue its StrataTV service in August of 2025 due to increasing costs to deliver the service and offer it affordably to members. Strata assures customers that they are available to help with the transition and invites customers to contact (435) 622-5007 to discuss the options available after the service is no longer offered.

Strata Networks is proud to announce that its 2024 Charity Golf Classic successfully raised $31,817.77 in support of Project Alley, a non-profit organization working to establish an addiction recovery center for women in the Uintah Basin. This total includes $21,817.77 raised during the tournaments, plus an additional $10,000 generously matched by CoBank, one of Strata’s lending partners.

“We are very happy with the success of this year’s Charity Golf Classic and deeply grateful to everyone who participated and contributed,” said Bruce Todd, Strata Networks CEO/General Manager. “We hope that the money raised will make a lasting impact on the Uintah Basin by helping to provide a vital service to our community.”

Project Alley was founded in 2023 and is currently working to secure property in Uintah County that will eventually hold a residential home and treatment center structured around the 12-step programs and other methodologies used to overcome addiction. Much like the Thompsen House of Hope men’s addiction recovery center located in Duchesne County, Project Alley aims to focus their program on spiritual enlightenment and creating service-driven lives.

Representatives from Project Alley were present at both Strata golf tournaments held last May in Roosevelt and Vernal. This year’s events filled up in record time, bringing together nearly 500 golfers, including local businesses, community leaders, and golf enthusiasts who enjoyed a beautiful day of golf, networking, and camaraderie while supporting a cause that touches many lives.

“On behalf of Project Alley, I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to Strata Networks, a pillar in our community, for their generous contribution,” stated Heath McDougal, Director of Project Alley. “The donation will significantly enhance our efforts to create positive change in the Uintah Basin. Thank you for believing in us!”

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Weston Moon, a cherished member of our Strata Networks family. Weston, who served as a Capital Projects Supervisor in our construction department, was involved in a tragic accident and has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts and our company.

Weston was known for his incredible dedication and hard work. His unwavering commitment to excellence and his friendly, approachable nature made him a valued colleague and friend to many. His contributions to our projects and his positive attitude were integral to the success of our team.

Beyond his professional life, Weston was a devoted family man. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Whitney, and their three young children, ages 8, 5, and 8 months. His love and pride for his family were always evident, and he often shared stories of their adventures and milestones.

Weston was a true cowboy at heart, with a passion for the outdoors and a deep appreciation for the country life. He embraced every opportunity to be outside, whether working on a project, riding horses, or simply enjoying nature’s beauty.

Strata Networks held its 71st Annual Meeting on June 6, which showcased the cooperative’s commitment to connecting the Uintah Basin, discussed the importance of new projects, and celebrated the company’s dedicated employees. During the meeting, it was announced that after no contested election, the following Board of Directors were re-elected to serve a three-year term: Rick Coil, Duchesne District; Dana Shepard, Flattop District; Mindi Crowley, Fruitland District; and Aaron Reary, Lapoint District.

The meeting featured insightful presentations from key leadership, including Treasurer Mindi Crowley, Board President Ashley Shiner, General Manager/CEO Bruce Todd, and various Strata employees. Each speaker highlighted the progress Strata Networks has made over the past year and the importance of caring for customers.

During Manager Bruce Todd’s report, he expressed appreciation to employees and the Board for their ongoing efforts to improve connectivity in the Basin, not only through fiber but also through its robust wireless network, which, in comparison to other carriers, provides the most “comprehensive coverage in the Basin.”

Treasurer Mindi Crowley assured members of Strata’s continued financial stability, and President Ashley Shiner spoke proudly about its contributions to the community. One of Strata’s largest contributions can be seen in its investment in bringing fiber optic internet to nearly all locations in the Uintah Basin. This task is difficult to do with the Basin’s remote locations, rough terrain, and harsh winters. Strata Construction Manager Dick Bess praised the many employees who have accepted these challenges and worked tirelessly to construct the network.

Strata’s priority to expand its local fiber network is evident. More than 15,000 Uintah Basin locations are currently passed with fiber—a number that continues to grow. These expansion efforts have accelerated in recent years, partly due to the successes seen from the company’s public-private partnerships with Lehi and Providence cities to build and operate their city-owned fiber networks.

Tyler Rasmussen, Strata’s Vice President of Business Development, expanded on these partnerships and many other strategic initiatives to maintain a healthy revenue stream for the cooperative. In addition to municipal fiber networks, these initiatives include acquisitions, expansion into new markets and developments, and the growth of Strata’s subsidiary companies. Rasmussen emphasized that while many of these projects occur outside the Basin, they are all done with the member’s best interests in mind and to benefit the local community.

One of those benefits is the creation of new job opportunities, which was demonstrated in presentations by Shelly Ward, Strata’s Network Operations Center Supervisor, and Bert Young, Strata’s Network Operations Manager. They each praised various teams and their efforts to improve the customer experience through proactive customer support and innovative software tools.

With advancements in technology and the recent surge of artificial intelligence, Tyler Labrum, Strata’s Director of Risk Management, assured the audience that cybersecurity remains a top priority. Labrum educated members on a few helpful tips to protect their information and confirmed that Strata is investing in its people and the right technology to stay ahead of the curve.

It was also announced that Attorney Clark Allred, who has served as Strata’s legal counsel for nearly forty years, is retiring. Allred was recognized for his many contributions and impact over the years.
