]]>Happy Valentine’s Day! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and you’re probably already thinking about how to impress your partner! If you’re running out of creative ideas, let us help you spice up your dating life with some cheeky pick-up lines inspired by road names in Singapore that you can share with your date to score some points. Hehe.

Located somewhere in Bedok (the town where hearts go “be‑dok be‑dok”), this playful line takes inspiration from one of the lesser-known road names in Singapore. Calling someone a “KEW‑tie” is the perfect icebreaker to slide smoothly into their DMs.
Interestingly, during our research of road names in Singapore, we found articles online mentioning multiple World War II pillboxes still nestled within Bedok today and one of these pillboxes is reportedly sighted along Kew Drive. If you are wondering what a pillbox is, it is a dug-in guard post used as a first line of defence against enemy ships and troops. While intriguing, we’re unable to verify this fully due to limited official documentation. Keep reading, because we have a few more examples of how road names in Singapore are often linked to rich, hidden histories.

I know, I know, we can feel your eyes rolling to the back of your heads but trust me, asking about someone’s day or talking about the weather can indeed be a good way to fill the awkward spaces in conversations.
Holt Road is located somewhere in River Valley district. ‘Holt Road’ was named in 1921 after Private Holt of Singapore Volunteer Corps, who was one of the casualties in the Singapore Mutiny of 1915. So yes, this is proof that even casual conversation starters can have meaningful roots in the history behind road names in Singapore. (Source: NLB)

Oh, who doesn’t love Tanjong Pagar? With its wide selection of restaurants right in the heart of the city (WE LOVE KOREAN FOOD), it’s no wonder the area is popular for dates. This witty line draws inspiration from Tras Street, one of the many charming road names in Singapore.
Tras Street was named in 1981 after a Malaysian town called Tras – a simple but cool origin story that adds character to this well-loved part of town. (Source: NLB) This is another reminder that road names in Singapore often reflect regional connections and forgotten stories than we know.

Indeed, everyone loves a good (wo)man because a good (wo)man is genuinely hard to come by.
Goodman Road is named after Arthur Mitchell Goodman, who served as the Resident Councillor of Penang in 1933 and later became Governor of the Straits Settlements during World War I. (Source: NLB) A solid name with a respectable legacy, just like the image you’re trying to project through these clever road names in Singapore pick-up lines.

We all want a partner who communicates openly, and even better, one who is internationally good at it. This playful line channels confidence while taking inspiration from yet another memorable entry among the road names in Singapore.

Being “a-Leonie” can be scary, but being with the wrong person is scarier! Cue “Scared to be Lonely” by Martin Garrix
Leonie Road was a popular location for affluent European and Chinese settlers in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, its name reminds us that sometimes, being brave enough to stand alone is an essential step toward finding the right connection. Yes, it’s another layered meaning behind road names in Singapore.

A wiseman once said “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light”. IYKYK. Differences are bound to happen in any relationship, but what truly matters is committing to work things out together.
As early as 1822, there were official records of Middle Road, making it one of the oldest road names in Singapore. (Source: NLB)

It’s comforting to have someone who stays by your side and offers a shoulder to cry on during life’s gloomiest moments. This heartfelt line is inspired by Still Road, one of the more sentimental road names in Singapore.
Fun fact: Do you know that Still Road was renamed from Lorong 210 East Coast after the passing of Alexander William Still, the former Chief Editor of The Straits Times? (Source: NLB)

That said, we wish you nothing but happiness! After all, love, like many road names in Singapore, is a journey best taken together.

If you’ve read this far, thank you for patiently bearing with our pun‑filled exploration of road names in Singapore. 💖

STRIDES Premier Taxis can ferry up to 4 passengers in a single journey.
From drop-off and pick-up services within Singapore, you are free to choose your preferred location. Within Johor Bahru, all drop-off and pick-up services will only be strictly from Johor Larkin Sentral Terminal.
Johor Larkin Sentral Terminal is the official pick-up and drop-off point for licensed cross-border taxi services. Located beside the largest bus terminal in Johor Bahru, it offers convenient access to popular spots: just a 10–15 minute taxi ride to KSL or 20 minutes to Mid Valley Southkey.
No. Due to unpredictable traffic conditions at the immigration checkpoints, STRIDES Premier is unable to guarantee an exact arrival time at Johor Larkin Sentral. Passengers are advised to plan accordingly, especially if connecting to other transport services. Please note that STRIDES Premier is not liable for any delays or missed connections resulting from traffic congestion.
Singaporeans and foreigners can use Malaysia’s National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) for QR code-based clearance at Johor checkpoints. Groups may register via the MyNIISe app and clear immigration using a single QR code, helping to reduce wait times. Please note that passports are still required for verification.
That said, immigration regulations may change over time. Passengers are strongly advised to check the latest requirements and ensure that all essential documents are prepared and readily available before the trip.

As a licensed operator, you can travel with peace of mind with STRIDES Premier.
