SURGE Bangkok
Focused on building solutions to increase financial inclusion for youth, this event will bring together interdisciplinary teams in Bangkok. This event will have a one-day learning event to teach an introduction to blockchain coding, as well as a two-day hackathon which will have talks from the leading minds in blockchain, and mentors on various topics such as design thinking and pitching.
SURGE is an immersive series of events that invites youth to learn new skills, while at the same time exploring where blockchain could play a role in addressing global challenges.
SURGE is more than an event, it’s an opportunity to learn, play and experiment while making new friends. SURGE aims to teach teens and young people about blockchain, a technology that is challenging existing models. Join us as we explore the hype and hope of blockchain.
SURGE is comprised of two components: learning events and hackathons. You’ll have the chance to learn, ask questions and engage with blockchain experts who are excited to help you navigate the world of this emerging technology.
SURGE offers a variety of events around the world, geared towards both non-technical and technical crowds.
Prizes
1st, 2nd, 3rd place: UNICEF Innovation x TechSauce
Top 3 projects will have an opportunity to present at TechSauce 2019 (June 19 - 20).
MESG 1st Place
MESG will give 30,000 MSG tokens (current value ~$954USD) to the 1st place winner.
MESG 2nd Place
MESG will give 15,000 MSG tokens (current value ~$477USD) to the 2nd place winner.
MESG 3rd Place
MESG will give 6,000 MSG tokens (current value ~$191USD) to the 3rd place winner.
MakerDAO: De-Risk Emerging Economies and Increase Financial Inclusion
MakerDAO will give 1500 DAI to the top project that incorporates Maker infrastructure and utilize DAI either as a product or as a platform.
Projects should have an emphasis on leveraging new technologies that lower the barrier to entry for new crypto users and *help people in emerging economies retain control over their own capital*

Usability aside, is the idea proposed something that hasn’t been explored enough and rightfully deserves more attention? Are we witnessing the birth of a completely new use-case for tokens or smart contracts? -

Does this submission have the potential to improve financial inclusion for youth here in Thailand and the rest of the world? -
Wow! Factor
How has this project defied expectations? (i.e. did they do an extraordinary job producing code with just a few coders or is the scope of the project more ambitious than for a hackathon yet it was still delivered?) -
