What is the New Release Challenge?

The New Release Reading Challenge was developed and run by (un)Conventional Bookworms, a book blog run by the talented and beautiful Bookworm Brandee and Linda Tiliagren. They’ve been hosting this year-long reading challenge for several years, but life has gotten in the way of their continuing. After consulting with them, I have decided to take over running this for them (but they’re welcome to take it back at any time).

When is The New Release Challenge?

All year long, from January 1, through December 31! (NOTE: Because of where I live, each new quarter will begin at midnight GMT+2.)

What are the New Release Challenge Rules?

  • Books included in the link party have to be only those released in the present year, and reviewed before the end of the year.
  • Books can count towards more than one challenge, meme, book-tag, or book-list, as long as the ones you use for the New Release Reading Challenge qualify to the other rules.
  • The minimum length for a book to qualify is 100 pages (but hey, shorter is okay as well), although it can be in any format though, physical, e-book, ARC or audiobook, in any genre (including graphic novels and comics), set in any era (past, present, or future), and written for any reading age group.
  • The New Release Challenge is open from January 1st through December 31st.
  • You don’t have to be a book blogger to participate, you can link to your review on Goodreads or Booklikes or anywhere that you post a review of a newly released book – so don’t be shy!
  • If you want to spread the love, please use #2026NewReleaseChallenge on any and all social media sites where you promote your reviews.

There is a Facebook Group for the New Release Challenge, to have a place where we can keep up with each other, cheer each other on, and get to know each other better. It is also a place where we can help each other find even more new releases. For those of you who have already participated, it’s the same group as before.

There are five levels  in the New Release Challenge:

  1. 1-30 books per year – New Release Newbie
  2. 31-60 books per year – New Release Pro
  3. 61-100 books per year – New Release Veteran
  4. 101-200 books per year – New Release Enthusiast
  5. 200+ books per year – New Release Obsessed
