About the challenge

There are 3 problem statements released. Each group must pick ONLY 1 of the 3 problem statements to work on and develop a prototype to address it.

Please choose 1 of the 3 problems to solve:

1. Singtel

Being a customer-focused company, Singtel is committed to ensure timely delivery of mobile devices to our customer on time. Considering the changes in demand (such promotional campaigns or festive seasons) and well as order lead time required by suppliers, develop a forecasting model that will forecast the demand for mobile devices.

The objective of the dashboard is:

  • High forecast accuracy – demand of product based on past and current trends alongside with any other upcoming/ongoing promotional campaigns
  • View of current inventory being maintained and how to manage stocking
  • Dashboard can be used by various stakeholders

Provided in this tool kit are mock data sets to be used. Please make reasonable assumptions where needed to support your forecasting model.

2. Housing Development Board (HDB)

HDB manages over 2000 carparks, with more than 660k car parks and 7000 equipment that supports the operations of the carpark. Our car parks are visited by 500k unique motorists and the system processes 2.5m transactions daily. It is not possible for HDB to deploy staff/maintenance teams to be at every car park, due to the sheer number of car parks and equipment. Also, the situation is exacerbated by the manpower crunch brought about by our aging population. Hence, we are looking for a solution that allows HDB to rely on the residents to take ownership of their estate’s well-being, and partner HDB to improve the estate.

Objective: To leverage on technology (mobile app, crowdsourcing, etc) to create a fun and engaging solution that allows residents to check on HDB car parks, monitor the maintenance/rectification progress if any and take ownership for the well-being of their estate
