This week we’re doing something a little different — and I think you’re really going to enjoy this one.

We’re taking a behind-the-scenes look at exactly what gear I bring with me when I travel abroad — whether it’s for business, trade shows, client meetings, or just a little pleasure travel.

As you know, wherever I go, I usually need to document a new gadget, capture footage for a review, or handle a client-related request. That means the gear I pack has to be reliable, portable, and absolutely dependable. When you’re thousands of miles from home, there’s no room for failure.

Now here’s the problem…

I tend to overpack.

And I suspect many of you do too.

It’s always difficult to decide which camera to bring. Do I take the action cam? The mirrorless? The drone? Multiple lenses? Backup audio? Extra lighting? Before you know it, you’re carrying half a studio through the airport.

And let’s be honest — TSA inspections, airline baggage restrictions, rising luggage fees, and dragging heavy gear through terminals is not fun anymore.

So I’ve finally developed a more reliable method to determine what really makes the cut — and what stays home.

It’s time to cull the gear.

Trim it down.
Travel smarter.
And still produce professional results.
