Comment on Don’t Be Scared of Work: Balance is the Key by Jason Blumer https://thriveal.com/resources/article/dont-be-scared-of-work-balance-is-the-key/#comment-274 Sat, 20 Aug 2022 20:35:34 +0000 https://thriveal.com/?p=19692#comment-274 In reply to Curtis Hardwick.

I love this Curtis:

“Life is enhanced by work. Harmony is achieved when life & work can coincide effortlessly. Also embracing the concept of seasonality of life. There will be times that you have to work more & times that you can rest & relax more.”

I love that you mentioned seasonality. Seasonality is truly a part of keeping this all in check. Different seasons bring different efforts, weights, rest, and results. There is always the sowing and reaping.

Thank you for these reminders!

I like the term, “Work/Life Harmony” over “Work/Life Balance”. I’m not sure if I learned that term from y’all (You & Julie) or from another source but I think it describes what you are saying… the life YOU CHOOSE should include intentional, purposeful, meaning-filled work & it doesn’t matter if it fits into the 40 hour per week “mold”. Life is enhanced by work. Harmony is achieved when life & work can coincide effortlessly. Also embracing the concept of seasonality of life. There will be times that you have to work more & times that you can rest & relax more. I’m only beginning to understand that this is not a “bad” thing… it is a human thing.

“If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life”. Cliche but true. I think MOST people are void of true purpose in their work & that leads to the feeling of dread around the “old ball & chain” work. I am fortunate to be a ln entrepreneur & can make my own destiny. I couldn’t imagine feeling helpless with my work. But I empathize with those that see work as a curse. Maybe the answer is that we all (whether employee or employer) need to take an entrepreneurial mindset to whatever work we are called to do.
