By 2024, the Federal Reserve has said it will implement FedNow℠ regulations which will greatly complicate fraud detection for most institutions not utilizing the ToolCASE AI suite. As of right now, bank deposits, for example, are often not posted in-full until at least the next business day. The current system gives institutions a little bit of time to discover fraudulent activity before funds are withdrawn or transferred. However, this is about to change.
The FedNow℠ regulations will usher in a new era of instant banking where deposits will be immediately available for withdrawal. While this is great news for the customer, it’s a nightmare for the bank. A fraudulent check deposited in an ATM or a fraudulent transfer could theoretically be immediately withdrawn as cash, or these fraudulent funds could be instantly transferred in full to another account.
