This online keyboard let’s you type IPA using your hardware keyboard. The full IPA character set is arranged into 4 layouts:
- Main: most common characters;
- WIth Shift key down: the rest of most common characters;
- With Alt key down: diacritics;
- With Alt+Shift down: tone marks, clicks and the rest characters.
Press Shift and/or Alt keys on your hardware keyboard to learn the additional layouts. When you are happy, just copy the content of the field with your usual “Select All” and “Copy” commands.
Shortcuts inside input area:
- Undo [⌃/⌘ + Z]. Redo [⌃/⌘ + ⇧ + Z].
- Move to “Find” field: [⌃/⌘ + F]. Find next [⌃/⌘ + G]. Find previous [⌃/⌘ + ⇧ + G].
- Replace [⌃/⌘ + J]. Replace all [⌃/⌘ + ⇧ + J].
Hi! This is the 2nd iteration of the keyboard. We added undo/redo and find/replace features and ironed out a few other things.
Any features you would like to see added? Any characters missing? Any suggestions on the character layout? Please, let us know in the comments.
Happy typing!
For the word ‘alleles’ the standard American pronunciation is (according to personal experience and Google Translate) əˈlils, but the website shows only əˈlɛliz
I have a few additions to your lexicon. Exultation [ɛgzʌlˈteɪʃən], illimitable [ɪˈlɪmɪtəbəl], inconsolable [ˌɪn kənˈsoʊləbəl], harpy/harpies [ˈhɑr pi,-piz], and Strophades [ˈstroʊˌfʌdiz] were all missing; as well as a bunch of Greek gods, but I assume that’s something you’re already working on, so I won’t list them all here.
“Alix” in the British dialect doesn’t show any results.
Amazing
IPA is Fun
can’t be found IPA for “prioritization”, please add this.
Thanks!
As with so many words on your site, Chaldeans has the correct phonetics representation but the audio pronunciation differs and, in this case, is wrong. The second, not first, syllable should have stress, as in the transcription.
hiya! the word ‘wulf’ wasn’t transcribed for me, is there a way to add it? Or why was it marked red?
Is it a word or did you mean “wolf”?
ˌɪntərˈnæʃənəl fəˈnɛɾɪk ˈælfəˌbɛt
Should be when I enter “International Phonetic Alphabet”
In the word “phonetic” there should be the “flap t” sound for General American Accent

I’d like to add a correction. The American word “three” is being shown as /θri/, but there is not a native trilled /r/ sound in the American English pronunciation. It should be noted as /θɹi/ .
