Comment on DBS Barring – Representations, reviews and appeals by Debbie Sadler https://unlock.org.uk/advice/barring-representations-reviews-and-appeals/#comment-88345 Wed, 18 Mar 2026 14:58:04 +0000 https://unlock.org.uk/advice/barring-representations-reviews-and-appeals/#comment-88345 In reply to Anthony.

Hi Anthony

As you were working with an adult client, the DBS are likely to consider placing you on just the Adult’s Barred List. However, there may be some situations in which they might consider placing you on both the adults and children’s barred lists. The reasons for this would usually be explained in the ‘Minded to Bar’ letter you would have received from the DBS.

Best wishes

Debbie

Is it necessary to be barred to work with both children and adults. At that time I was working with an adult client and he never got any harm.

Comment on Which cautions and convictions will be removed from a standard or enhanced DBS? – A brief guide by Debbie Sadler https://unlock.org.uk/advice/what-will-be-filtered-by-dbs/#comment-88250 Thu, 12 Mar 2026 16:17:10 +0000 https://unlock.org.uk/advice/what-will-be-filtered-by-dbs/#comment-88250 In reply to B.

Hi

If you were under 18 when you received the caution, it wouldn’t appear on your standard and enhanced DBS certificate.

If you were over 18, then it would remain on your standard and enhanced DBS certificate for 6 years.

Hi Neeta

Providing you didn’t receive a prison sentence or a suspended sentence, your conviction would now be filtered from your enhanced DBS certificate.

Comment on DVLA records of driving offences and how they’re shared by Debbie Sadler https://unlock.org.uk/advice/dvla-records-of-driving-offences-and-how-theyre-shared/#comment-86684 Tue, 23 Dec 2025 15:04:01 +0000 https://unlock.org.uk/advice/dvla-records-of-driving-offences-and-how-theyre-shared/#comment-86684 In reply to Jeff.

Hi Jeff

The only convictions you need to disclose to an insurance company are those which are unspent. Therefore, in answer to this question being asked by the insurer, you can tick the ‘No’ box.

Hi J

From the information you’ve provided, you don’t have a criminal record. This is evidenced by the fact that your ACRO Subject Access Request states ‘No Trace’. Therefore on the e-visa application you can answer ‘No’ to any question which relates to a criminal record.

Best wishes
