White Label Embeds : Per-Visualization Data Downloads

Opt-in Feature

Users can now download filtered data directly from individual visualizations within your White Label Embeds (WLEs). This allows for more granular data exploration without needing to export the entire dashboard.

Key Details

Granular Control: Users can export the specific data powering a single chart or table, respecting all active filters.
Workspace-Level Toggle: This is an Opt-in feature. To ensure consistent data governance, the ability to download can only be enabled or disabled at the Workspace level.
WLE Impact: Once enabled for a workspace, the download option will be available across all embedded dashboards within that workspace.

Data Mashup for Cross-Source Joins

Data Mashup is a high-performance interface for performing SQL transformations across disparate data sources within a single report. It removes the "single connection" restriction, enabling joins between different warehouses and flat files without requiring an ETL process to centralize data first.

We have overhauled the SQL Editor to make writing queries smoother, faster, and more customisable - from "mind-reading" autocomplete to a high-performance editor interface.

Advanced Parsing: Full support for CTEs, quoted/case-sensitive table names, and non-aliased JOINS.
Flexible Syntax: Recognises tables separated by commas and multiple queries separated by semicolons.

Visuals: New High-Contrast theme, font sizes (10–24px), and Minimap toggle.
Organization: Use -- #region / -- #endregion for code folding.
Editing Tools: Added Mouse-wheel zoom, and dedicated Undo/Redo buttons.

This new setting simplifies controls that were previously only available via API, automatically purging data older than your set period (default is 1 year). This includes result data, PDFs, and Datasets.

GitHub integration now produces verified commits

Improvement

Commits made through Mode’s GitHub integration will now appear as Verified in GitHub. These commits are shown as coming from the GitHub App bot (instead of the individual user), with the original Mode user's name included in the commit message for clarity (e.g., Committed by Jane Smith).

There’s no change to your existing workflow—just improved transparency and commit integrity.

Purge API now supports 1-day limit

Improvement

We’ve updated the API for purging all report results to support a minimum date threshold of 1 day, reduced from the previous 15-day limit. This change allows users to implement stricter retention policies, if they choose.

Python upgrade: 3.9 → 3.11

We're upgrading our Python environment from version 3.9 to 3.11. This update brings:

Performance Boost: Faster execution thanks to core optimizations.
Better Error Messages: Clearer tracebacks to speed up debugging.
New Language Features: Includes match statements (structural pattern matching), precise error locations, and improved typing.
Deprecations: Some older libraries or syntax may no longer be supported—please review your code for compatibility.

For most users, no changes are required. If you maintain custom Python code, we recommend testing it in the Python 3.11 environment (Python Edge).

API triggered query runs included in Discovery Database

Member API tokens

Admins can now enable all members to generate API tokens that correspond to their specific access levels within the Workspace. To turn on the feature, go to the API Keys page under Workspace Settings and click on the Member keys tab. Admins have oversight over all Member API tokens that are created and can revoke them whenever necessary, allowing them to manage their Mode instance more confidently and securely.

Mode will remove support for personal token API authentication on February 28, 2025. This is because Workspace and Member API tokens support the same use cases and provide better security and transparency into usage. You will receive additional communications and instructions about this deprecation, but you can begin this process at any time by reaching out to our Support team for a list of existing personal API tokens.

Reorder queries and Datasets in the Report navigation

You can now drag and drop or use the menu affordances to reorder queries and reusable Datasets in the left hand navigation to more easily organize them within your Reports. Arrange your queries by placing the important ones at the top to improve efficiency.
