The Sun Life x uXperience Design Jam is a 7-day hybrid design challenge open to all post-secondary students. This year’s theme, “Designing for Care That Connects,” invites participants to explore how we can create more connected, compassionate, and effective care experiences for people living with chronic conditions.
Event Schedule
- October 17-20: Kickoff! Teams are announced, the challenge brief is released, and students meet their assigned Sun Life mentor.
- October 20–22: Mandatory virtual mentorship sessions (at least one team member must attend).
- October 25 (Pitch Day): In-person presentations in Stratford from 9 AM to 3 PM. Free transportation and meals provided
Requirements
What to Build:
Design a Sun Life solution that supports Waterloo hospital patients newly diagnosed with chronic conditions* in understanding & guiding them through their benefits, managing lifestyle changes, and navigating long-term care.
*Choose 1 of our personas on which to base your solution.
What to Submit
Remember to focus on desirability, viability, and feasibility when we think about this specific challenge. Consider Sun Life, the Waterloo hospital, the patient, and the reality of the medical system.
Presentations will be displayed on the MicroTile Wall in the Atrium. Please ensure your presentation is cloud-based (Google Slides, Figma Slides, etc) and scaled to 4:3.
Please ensure you have uploaded the link to your presentation by 12:30 PM on Friday, October 24th, to Dev Post. You can continue working on the slide deck until your presentation on October 25th.
Presentations will be a maximum of 3 minutes. No exceptions, we will cut off groups that exceed this time.
You are welcome to submit any additional work that can help supplement your slide deck. The additional information you share about your design process, insights, prototypes, etc., will help judges understand your thinking more thoroughly. While not required, it may be used tangentially as part of the judging process in case of a tie. These submissions must be submitted by 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 25th.
