Another year-end meme
My 2009 in fic:
Fallout, Firefly/Torchwood, Mal/Jack, NC-17
Sauce for the Goose, Firefly, Mal/Simon/Jayne, PG-13
Not Fitting, A Knight's Tale, Edward/Will, PG
Running to Stand Still, Leverage, Nate/Eliot, R
The High School Job, Leverage, Nate/Eliot, R
I've Just Seen A Face, Leverage, Hardison/Parker, R
Hemingway's Opinion, Lucifer Box, Lucifer/Charlie, NC-17
The Failures of Democracy, Merlin, Arthur/Merlin, PG
The Fury 2, RPS AU, PG-13
Infected, AI RPS, Adam/Kris, PG
Seeking Proof, AI RPS, Adam/Kris, PG
Good Day Sunshine, Firefly RPS, Nate/Sean, R
Valentine's Day, Kane RPS, Chris/Steve, R
Late, Kane RPS, Chris/Steve, NC-17
My favorite of these: Most of them still make me wince and the comment fic ones have me itching to edit them, but it's probably The Fury update - I still love that AU even if no one else does!
Best story of these: Best, oh lord, is a value judgment that I'm not terribly good at making. Actually, I think it's probably I've Just Seen a Face - it's bouncy, and for me, it captures the characters pretty well.
Story most under-appreciated by the universe (in my opinion): Running to Stand Still - it's not a bad fic, in fact I'm still pretty damn proud of how it turned out, but it's been mostly ignored by the fandom.
Most fun story: The Failures of Democracy. Merlin and Monty Python. Can't really be anything but fun.
Sexiest story/single sexiest moment: Hemingway's Opinion and I am not a cruel man, despite my carefully cultivated reputation. "I think," I told him softly, squeezing lightly before stroking my hand over him, "that under the circumstances, you might use my Christian name."
Writing risks this year: Mostly new fandoms - Kane RPS, Leverage, Merlin and AI RPS are all new to me. I've got some original fic on the back burner which is a big risk for me, but as far as story posting goes, Fallout has to be a risk. It's dirty, it's twisted, it's bleak, it's not kind to any of the characters involved, and it was written as a charity fic, so there was the risk that my recipient would hate it and that all of fandom would point and squirm.
Most unintentionally telling story: I don't actually know that any of them are. F-list, any suggestions?
In progress: FAR too many to list. As ever.
Conclusion: I wrote more than I thought I had, but mostly short stories - anything longer is still WIP. I seem to be focusing on character rather than plot (nothing new) but there aren't really any fandoms that have grabbed me and held me in the way that Firefly did. And Yuletide was wonderful.
And to conclude, a fandom meme: Ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. Favorite character, favorite moment, unpopular opinion, something about a fic of mine... whatever. Wackiness encouraged.
In other news we have SNOW. The cat disapproves.

Your fic count is awesome!
Merlin - Does Arthur know about the magic?
no subject
Hmmm. I think Arthur doesn't know about the magic, but only because he's not letting himself know. He's avoiding any situation where he'd be forced to confront it, and is accepting the most ludicrous explanations for alternatives from both Gaius and Merlin, when he'll challenge anything that's not magic related. In short - to the point of plausible deniability.

And there has to be at least one character that hooks me in. One that I want to know more of, or one that I want to be able to understand. A good relationship between characters helps, but there has to be that one hook to start with.

Oh, well put! I feel exactly the same way. While I have never watched Sons of Anarchy, I have canons I feel that way about, too.
