Wacode is a 36-hour in-person hackathon in Waco, Texas. Our goal is to contirbute to our local communities using our technical skills and abilities!

Throughout the event, we will have several talented speakers and industry professionals presenting on a wide variety of topics. Everything from the fundamentals of software design to niche technologies to professional teamwork and networking skills!

The bulk of the event is you working with your team to make an amazing project! Want to build an app? Go for it! Been itching to try out a new technology? No time is better than this! Want to get your hands dirty with a hardware project? All you!

The culmination of the event will be you presenting your project to a cohort of your peers and our wonderful sponsors. Practice your presentation skills and own your awesome project! The best projects, as determined by our judges, will even earn prizes!

Judging Criteria

  • Focus
    Did the project address the prompt in a meaningful way? Is there a clear connection between the final product and the selected prompt?
  • Presentation
    Was the team's presentation rehearsed and thoughtful? Did it address the team's goal, successes, and shortcomings? Did they demonstrate their work in a meaningful way?
  • Creativity
    How unique and creative was the team's project? Did the team come up with a solution to a difficult or new problem? Does the project solve the selected problem in a non-standard way?
  • Value
    What is the socioeconomic and/or environmental benefit of the team's solution? Is there a target audience that would particularly benefit from using it? If implemented on a larger scale, would it provide a valuable service to the community?
