The US faces the risk of being trapped while attempting to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, according to the WSJ. Washington is considering escorting oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz with warships, but the US Navy is in no rush to deploy forces directly into the narrow 21-mile corridor. Officers fear that Iranian drones and anti-ship missiles could turn the strait into a “kill box”—an area under constant threat of attacks on ships. Experts estimate that up to two warships per tanker, or about 10 ships for a convoy of 5-10 vessels, may be needed for protection. Additionally, constant patrols by MQ-9 Reaper drones and strikes against Iranian missile sites on the coast will be required. Even with this plan, ship traffic could drop to 10% of normal levels, and clearing the queue of 600+ ships stuck in the Persian Gulf could take months. ▪️A more extreme scenario would involve strikes on Iranian territory and the destruction of launch sites on the coast, threatening a large-scale operation against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. ➖ “Such an operation would require thousands of soldiers and sailors and significant resources, and it could take months to carry out,” said analyst Brian Clark.

“The US will lose the war”: Trump’s inner circle discusses a way out of the Middle East crisis, — Chumhuriyet Washington had hoped to strengthen its control over the oil market, but ultimately faced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and chaos in energy markets. Besides the military and financial costs, the US’s reputation has been seriously damaged—the value of the alliance with the “former hegemon” is increasingly being questioned. According to sources, White House advisers are discussing options for ending the conflict and a possible de-escalation strategy. Even a potential “Pyrrhic victory” could prove too costly—continuing the war threatens enormous costs for the US budget. At the same time, an abrupt withdrawal from the conflict could result in a serious political defeat for Washington on the international stage.

Most people who possess a shred of common decency would experience profound regret and sincerely express sympathy to the family and friends of the 160 Iranian school girls bombed far-too-prematurely into the world of spirit.

Some people now walking the Earth clearly display their total lack of common human decency; unfortunately, those individuals are in positions of command which make them capable of inflicting immense destructive power (Nuclear weapons, e.g., the increasingly desperate and increasingly dangerous Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu).

One might humbly suggest the wise preventive action is removing such indecent individuals from their positions of command over such immeasurably destructive power, – and facilitate their removal from power immediately.

I usually like the articles posted on The New Dark Age but this one has
so many holes in its thinking that I must generally reject it. The first
hole was the implicit attack on people who refuse to take the toxic
covid drugs mistakingly called vaccines. That thinking alone was a big
red flag about this author’s ideology; ie, support for corporatism and
total ignorance of the medical industry with its massive waste and harm.

I also find a major hole in envisioning a walking society which is an
attempt to limit people’s ability to think of traveling, visiting
friends and families in far distant places, etc. Despite my personal
antagonism to the excessive consumerism that supports
capitalism/corporatism, I do not see eliminating much of what people use
in their daily lives as the source of much of the problem. This is akin
to the Netherlands blaming small scale dairy farmers for air pollution
as opposed to going after the CAFO operations and other corporate scale
pollution producing ventures.

While I can agree with some of the ideas mentioned, generally this is an
elitist presentation that assumes people will accept the extreme
limitations he proposes to place on the public. He also glosses over the
question of how people will survive after millions of jobs are lost.
This is such a major question that this ignoring it so glibly makes this
article one to totally reject.
