An online hackathon hosted by The College of Wooster with three tracks – design, code, data – for U.S. college students to come together as teams of 1-4 to solve a given social challenge. We also offer guest talks and mentorship throughout the event to support students in long-term professional growth, and reward winning ideas with career-enhancing prize.
Participants will solve the to-be-announced prompt compete in three distinct categories:

UI/UX Design
- Create a stunning and functional interactive prototype to address the given challenges.

Programming/Software Development
- Develop a functional application or software solution, showcasing your code and demo in action.

Data Analysis
- Analyze data and present compelling insights through visualizations and narratives.
In all tracks, the integration of AI-enhanced features will be considered for a distinct award, sponsored by Google's Build with AI Initiative. All semi-finalist submissions are considered for this honors.
Tip for pre-hack prep: Read up on current events and social justice issues! Start caring about where the world is at and use your skills to think of some solutions. That'll help you think better when the prompt is revealed ~
Requirements
First round (Semi-finalists)
- UI/UX Design
- Prototype Link (not design file) with at least 6 distinct screens (Figma or any design tools we can have access to)
- 2-5 min Video Demo to walkthrough the flow
- Programming/Software Development
- Your Github Repository with a clear, well-written Readme.md describing your program
- 2-5 min Video Demo to walkthrough the flow
- Data Analysis
- Data visualization Report (PDF or interactive dashboard)
- 2-5 min Video Demo to narrate the results/insights
Finalists:
9 selected teams for the finalist round will prepare a 5-minute elevated pitch of their submission to the judges panel and will have another 5 minute to address questions from judges or audience. Finalists can accompany their presentation with up to 3 presentation slides.
