Our Commitment to Sustainability

Prioritizing the environment with each event.

Green Initiatives

Bell Harbor International Conference Center is painted red, yellow, blue, and white, but it is green everywhere. Our commitment to the environment is of the utmost importance to us, and we strive to maximize sustainability of our events and locality of our sourced products, all while minimizing our carbon footprint in every aspect of our operations. We are proud to have been formally recognized by IACC with Green Star certification in our efforts to reduce waste and support the environmental health of both our venues and our community.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability by the Numbers

Bell Harbor partnered with a local environmental consultancy to measure its carbon footprint, and as a result, the team now encourages groups to adopt more sustainable practices. These include using water stations instead of bottled water, taking notes on whiteboards rather than paper flip charts and limiting notepad use, and coordinating live webcasting while providing electronic versions of presentations in place of printed materials.

How We Walk the Walk in Reducing Carbon Footprint

We have worked with local environmental consultants to identify strategies and practices for reducing our carbon footprint. Those practices include:
  • Utilizing water stations rather than bottled water.
  • Taking notes on white boards instead of paper flip-charts and limiting use of notepads.
  • Coordinating live webcasting and facilitating electronic versions of presentations to be sent to attendees instead of paper printouts.

Supporting Culinary Sustainability

  • Biofuel Partnership We recycle kitchen grease through SeQuential Biodiesel, who in turn uses it to create biofuel used in many of the Port of Seattle vehicles on property.
  • Sustainable Seafood We use sustainably farmed or fished seafood products whenever possible. Our culinary team is working towards a company mandated sustainable seafood program based on the Seafood Watch program developed by the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
  • Waste Management Food waste is composted and receptacles for recycling and debris are clearly labeled and placed throughout our venues.
