19-Cent Beginnings
Dick Spady, Warren Ghormley, and Dr. Thomas started Dick’s Drive-In with a big idea for a better burger stand in Seattle, even though many people didn’t believe it would work.
Watch how their idea turned into reality, leading to the construction and opening of the first restaurant in Wallingford in 1954. The story is told by Jasmine Donovan, President and CEO of Dick’s Drive-In Restaurants and the granddaughter of founder Dick Spady.
