About us

The Publications Office of the European Union is the official provider of publishing services to all EU institutions, bodies and agencies. As such, we are the central point of access to EU law, and also to publications, data, research results, procurement notices and other official information. The Publications Office therefore plays a central role in informing the public about what the EU does and means for them, and in unlocking the power of data. Our mission is to support EU policies as a centre of excellence for information, data and knowledge management, and to ensure that this broad range of information is available to the public as accessible and reusable data to facilitate transparency, economic activity and the diffusion of knowledge.

  • 📢 Want to learn how can open data, AI, and human reasoning work together to strengthen academic integrity? Join us on Friday, 27 March 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 CET for an inspiring session exploring exactly that. To kick off our webinar series “Open data, academia, and ethics”, we’ll delve into how open data and emerging technologies shape research integrity, transparency, and public trust. You’ll gain practical insights into how data-based arguments are constructed, and how they can sometimes mislead, even when they rely on high‑quality open data. 🔍 What you’ll learn: • How open data fits into reasoning, argumentation, and ethical responsibility • Why transparency in data alone is not enough to ensure integrity • How manipulative or weak data-based arguments emerge and how to spot them • Why humans don’t reason like computers, and what this means for data-driven research 🎙️ Our speakers: • Dr. Elfia Bezou Vrakatseli – Researcher in AI & argumentation at Inria • Dr. Ameer Saadat-Yazdi – Researcher in natural language reasoning & argumentation at Inria Register now and strengthen your understanding of integrity in a data-driven world. Feel free to share with colleagues and fellow data enthusiasts!

  • Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming students of the Estonian Law Students' Union to the Publications Office of the European Union. We exchanged on the use of EUR-Lex and how to fully benefit from its different functionalities, including summaries of EU legislation and consolidated texts. ⚖️ For students, it’s important to research effectively, which is why we were happy to share some tips and tricks on how to make the best use of the site. • Science lovers, watch the new #CORDIS video in the Make the connection with EU science series and discover how tiny chemical “sticky notes” on RNA are helping researchers better understand disease. You probably know the basics: messenger RNA carries the instructions for building proteins in our cells. But did you know that along the way, small chemical tags can attach to it, altering how much protein is produced, how it folds and how long the RNA remains active? The EU-funded #ROPES project explored how these RNA changes influence protein expression and health, while also strengthening European expertise in this emerging field, known as epitranscriptomics. “Over the course of the project, we saw our early stage researchers strengthen not only their technical skills but also their professional networks across Europe,” says Alessandro Quattrone, project coordinator at the University of Trento in Italy. “This work has helped to prepare a cohort of young scientists who can carry this field forward – an outcome we consider a major success.” 🎥 EU research is uncovering the hidden layers of gene regulation: https://lnkd.in/dpCpNaeM

  • Wherever you are in the EU, whatever language you speak, the #EuropeDirect network answers your questions about the EU. To help onboard the network for the next five years, we participated in the Europe Direct General Meeting in Brussels this week. We were there to explain how we can support the 400+ centres in their outreach work using EU law, data, publications. We also ran two workshops: one on making the most of the EU law, data and publications available on op.europa.eu; the other on using AI in social media content creation and other tasks (we held this with Paulina Zakovska from Europe Direct Strasbourg). We take home many great exchanges and ideas on how the centres can reach out to Europeans, and on our role at the Publications Office of the European Union in facilitating this. We wish all the centres a great start and repeat our message of being here to help them. Thanks to the organisers for a great event!
