Your data, your platform

About us

Your data, your platform! The Stackable Data Platform was designed with openness and flexibility in mind. It provides you with a curated selection of the best open source data apps like Apache Kafka®, Apache Druid, Trino and Apache Spark™. All data apps work together seamlessly, and can be added or removed in no time. Based on Kubernetes, it runs everywhere – on-prem or in the cloud. Use it to create unique and enterprise-class data architectures. For example, it supports modern Data Warehouses, Data Lakehouses, Event Streaming, Machine Learning or Data Meshes. Stackable was founded in 2020 from the community ethos and therefore makes its platform available as an open source product with freely accessible source code with a commercial service and support offering. Only software with non-restrictive, open source licensing is included in Stackable Data Platform meaning you’re free to use it however you want at any scale. We are convinced that the future of software development is open source. With Stackable, we want to go down this path and are looking for bright minds, tinkerers and developers who will accompany us on this path as employees or contributors. • Open source is no longer a niche - and events like yesterday prove it. Our co-founder Sönke Liebau joined the Bitkom Working Group Open Source in Frankfurt, where he gave a talk and connected with other passionate minds in the space. It's great to see that companies across every industry are actively engaging with open source - not just as a technology choice, but as a strategic foundation for digital sovereignty and that so many people care as deeply about open source and digital sovereignty as we do at Stackable. #OpenSource #DigitalSovereignty #Bitkom #Stackable

  • 🎉 Welcome, Daniela! Our new Senior Marketing Manager 🎉 We’re excited to introduce Daniela Richter just joined the Stackable team as Senior Marketing Manager. Here’s what drives her: On joining Stackable: ”I am excited to be part of the company at this stage in its development. The Stackable Data Platform is a solid product that has proven itself on the market and is highly valued by customers and the community. I am now looking forward to helping raise awareness of the Stackable Data Platform and expanding our user base. At Stackable, we put these values into practice - for instance, by avoiding tracking cookies. While choices like these may not simplify marketing, they allow us to build trust by leading with transparency and integrity from the start.” On the team culture: "Joining Stackable, I’ve been amazed by how open everyone is - not just to open-source software, but to new ideas, fresh perspectives, and bold ways of thinking. It’s clear that ‘open’ here isn’t just about code; it’s a culture that welcomes innovation and collaboration at every turn.” Beyond the office: “When I’m not at work, you’ll find me at the bouldering gym or out on the rocks. And if I weren’t in tech marketing? I’d likely be working in environmental protection for an NGO - anything to make an impact.” For Daniela, open source is about more than code: “It’s about building a community that takes responsibility.” We’re thrilled to have you on board and can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together. Welcome at Stackable, Daniela! 🚀 #TeamStackable #YourDataYourPlatform

  • 🚀 Exciting news again: Stackable joins forces with Agile Lab to power the EU Stack! We are proud to announce our strategic partnership with Agile Lab, integrating Stackable’s data platform as a core component of their “Data Services Layer” (EU Stack) - a Kubernetes-native framework designed for sovereign, scalable, and open data infrastructures. Their EU Stack combines the best of Stackable’s open-source building blocks - from event streaming to lakehouse querying - with Agile Lab’s enterprise-grade operational excellence. Together, we empower organizations to:  ✅ Deploy anywhere: On-prem, sovereign cloud, or air-gapped environments - with full control and auditability.  ✅ Simplify Day-2 operations: Scaling, upgrades, and configuration are encoded into the platform, reducing engineering overhead.  ✅ Ensure predictable costs: A transparent, scalable model eliminates financial surprises.  ✅ Embrace open-by-design: A modular, Kubernetes-first approach that grows with your ecosystem, not around it. 💡 The outcome? Less time managing infrastructure, more time delivering high-impact data products, analytics, and AI-ready datasets - all while maintaining true data sovereignty. • Two days and endless insights! Lukas Krug and Jim Halfpenny from our Stackable team delved deep into supply chain security and community exchange about open source platform topics at the ContainerDays 2026 in London. Take a look at Lukas's insights below!

So, after watching hundreds of conference talk recordings over the last years, I was finally attending a conference in person: Container Days London 2026. This was so much fun! And a lot to digest. Those who know me are very much aware that I am interested in supply chain security, luckily there were many great talks related to that topic. One problem that was covered in multiple talks is the fact even popular images on DockerHub with billions of downloads contain hundres of CVEs. That sounds scary at first. I think the two main things needed to make it less scary are: 1. Faster time for fixes to "trickle down" the supply chain so that the total numbers are reduced (many of the vulnerabilities have a fix available) 2. VEX statements along the supply chain for vulnerabilities that can't be exploited in a specific component Now the obvious problem is that the majority a software supply chains usually consists of open source projects with very limited resources. We've all seen the XKCD comic about the lone maintainer in Nebraska, but today, that maintainer is also fighting off a flood of AI-generated slop PRs, questionable security reports and even harassing blog posts, as I saw on Hacker News yesterday. Which doesn't really improve the situation. I hope, with the CRA going into effect soon, this topic will get more attention. Companies that profit from software will have to take responsibility for the supply chain they rely on. I was surprised to see the security tracks weren't more crowded. This is a topic we can no longer afford to ignore. To end on a positive note: After Kelsey Hightower's talk, many of the questions asked were about productivity pressure and an uncertain future for software engineers. I liked his advice very much: We should try to find things that spark joy in us, that we, for some reason, deeply care about. And then find other people who also care about the same topic as much as we do and exchange ideas with them. It is always such a great feeling to connect with people from all over the world and nerd out over these niche topics that you're interested in yourself, either virtual or at an in-person conference like Container Days.

  • From AI visions to real-world impact – our insights from the Adesso Data Day 2026 Last week, our colleague Marcus Locher represented Stackable at the Adesso Data Day. The focus of this years’ was clear: AI in action. Over 650 participants explored how data and AI are merging into productive, scalable solutions. Companies from insurance, energy, and agri-tech shared their practical use cases. Interesting was also the discussions about AI maturity: Where do organizations actually stand? What works today, and where are the gaps? And what about sovereignty and transparency? We’re excited that Stackable’s open-source data platform helps tackle these challenges — built for real-world use, ready to deploy, and made in Europe. A big thank you to adesso SE for another inspiring day of exchange and innovation! #AdessoDataDay #OpenSource #YourDataYourPlatform

  • 🎉 Welcome to Stackable, Stefan Fleckenstein! 🎉 We’re thrilled to welcome Stefan Fleckenstein as our new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). 🚀 Stefan not only brings many years of IT security expertise but also embodies the spirit of “Security by Doing” - because at Stackable, we don’t just talk about security, it is a core part of our data platform. With SecObserve, an independent open-source vulnerability management tool, he created a solution we rely on every day. SecObserve empowers teams to scan, prioritize, and manage security risks efficiently, making it a game-changer for modern IT infrastructures. A quick Q&A: ❓What motivates you when you get up in the morning?  “I want to make the world a little bit better than it would have been without me. Security and Open Source are two good ways to achieve this, by making secure products available to a wide range of organisations.” ❓Stefan, you are the lead developer of SecObserve, an open-source vulnerability management tool. What was the “aha moment” that led you to start this project?  “There are a lot of commercial vulnerability management tools on the market that are quite costly and at the time had complicated license models. On the other hand there are many open source scanning tools that produce good results but only as files. I wanted to have a system that focuses on software development in cloud environments with an easy to use user interface which easily integrates in CI/CD pipelines. That wasn’t available, so I started building it.” ❓As CISO at Stackable: What specific goals do you have for the first 6 months?  “There are two main goals for my work as CISO at Stackable: Keep the company secure and deliver a secure product to our customers. Stackable has done a lot already to achieve both goals. My task in the first months will be to consolidate everything that is already in place, define a target state and start working with the team to improve our security and resilience.” We’re proud to have a doer like Stefan on board - someone who doesn’t just evangelize security but makes it happen. Welcome to the team!👏 #OpenSource #CISO #YourDataYourPlatform
