The new foundation for documents: Limitless power to write, create, and automate anything that you can fit on a page.

About us

We are creating Typst to lift typesetting into the 21st century with a fast, easy to learn, collaborative platform that natively runs in your browser. We want to enable our users to focus on their content, instead of their typesetting tool. At the same time, Typst is highly versatile, covering everything from notes or letters to books or research papers.

It's no secret that I'm not a big fan of LaTex. Or perhaps more accurately, i'm a very big fan of Typst so I want to use it for all my writing! However, journals and conferences still want LaTeX source code for papers 🥹 The obvious solution was to write ttt, a small Typst to LaTeX compiler. I gave a talk about it recently at a Typst meetup in Berlin https://lnkd.in/e93bx4Fx

Thanks to everyone who has attended our meetup! It was a blast and we (and I hope you) learned a lot. Special shout out to the folks at the bar! If you have not been at the meetup, we are uploading each of the ten sessions on our YouTube channel, one video each weekday (Mo-Fri). The first video to go live is my keynote, in which I tell-all about our journey from scrappy upstarts to a professional open source project. You can find a link to the video in the first comment of this post. Hope to see you again next year! Joseph Barbier Norbert Preining Andreas Kröpelin Laurenz Mädje

Every 72nd person cannot read what's inside your PDF. About 1.4% percent of people use a screen reader, many of them are blind. Most PDF files are inaccessible to them: Their screen reader will read the file not in order, in the wrong language, without the contents of images, or not at all. Even if their screen reader can read the contents of the file, they cannot navigate to the next heading or section as they could on a website. If you distribute an inaccessible PDF, it will narrow your funnel in the best case and exclude people from obtaining vital services in the worst case. This is why the European Union has passed the European Accessibility Act (EAA), which requires electronic documents, like PDF to be accessible. The EAA took full effect on June 28, 2025. It applies to many businesses operating in the EU with penalties reaching up to €500,000. Yet, most tools make it hard to produce an accessible PDF. They often require special export options. Many PDF generators used in business don't support accessible PDFs at all. We are offering a way out of this bind: With Typst 0.14, every PDF document is made accessible by default, no settings required. There are more tools to ensure the best experience for screen reader users and compliance with the EAA. When you choose PDF/UA-1, an international standard focused on accessibility, Typst will run checks to detect most common accessibility problems. And with the new color blind preview in our web app, you can check that the colors you used in your graphics are distinguishable for everyone. Bringing Order to Your Typst Workspace with Two New Features If you're like our power users (who average 12+ projects), your Typst dashboard might be getting a bit... crowded. Today, we're excited to announce two major updates to Typst Pro that directly address your top requests: 📁 Folders for Projects Our #2 most requested feature web app is finally here. You can now organize your projects into folders—drag and drop to arrange by client, topic, or deadline. No more scrolling through endless lists to find that one document. 💬 Review-Only Shares Stay in control when collaborating: You can now share your documents for feedback without worrying about accidental edits. Reviewers can comment but can't modify your markup, making it perfect for getting stakeholder input while maintaining document integrity. Both features are live now for Typst Pro subscribers. Simply refresh your browser to start organizing. For those not yet on Pro: We're offering the first 40 professionals who use code FOLDERS a complimentary first month. Experience folders, comments, and the other productivity enhancers like private packages and Git sync included on Typst Pro. These features came directly from your feedback—36 upvotes on our issue tracker told us folders would be a life-saver for busy dashboards. Thank you for helping shape Typst into a better tool for professional document creation. Learn more about the update: https://lnkd.in/enF_t3f6
