Uncomfortable truths about PPC in the home service category for the operators out there: 1. If you "need leads now", it's the wrong time to start running ads. 2. If you don't understand your close rates, profitability, and customer lifetime value for every one of your services, it's the wrong time to start running ads. 3. If you don't respond to leads in under 2 minutes, it's the wrong time to start running ads. 4. If you don't have a sterling reputation online and in your community, it's the wrong time to start running ads. Remember: Google Ads can't fix a lack of clarity. Google Ads can't fix a poor reputation. Google Ads can't fix broken processes. Google Ads can't fix financial instability. FIX THESE THINGS FIRST. PDFs rank disgustingly well right now... Use cases: - Reports - Guides - Statistics - Manuals They aren’t scored the same as HTML pages, so they barely touch your site wide quality score/signals. And PDFs have minimal competition, they tend to naturally attract links over time and even fewer spam checks too! There are also a bunch of decent parasites you can host them on, so if your own page won't rank, just convert it 📄😈

For decades, website owners have relied on a file called robots.txt to tell search engines how to crawl their sites. New potential standards, such as llms.txt, llms-full.txt, and ai.txt, are emerging to try and guide AI to crawl their site in a more controlled/efficient way. At Originality.ai, we are tracking the adoption of these potentially new standards across millions of websites. Findings: - 0.25% of the 3 million sites analyzed have implemented LLMs.txt - Adoption doubled from June to July Take Away: - Early adoption is happening ✅ - LLMs.txt has significantly more adoption than llms-full.txt or ai.txt - No popular AI platform has said if they are actually using these files Something to keep an eye on if you care about how AI interacts with your website.
