📣 Accessible website tips incoming... Some websites use accessibility overlays or toolbars to repair their accessibility issues. These tend to use scripting or AI to modify the page and can interfere with the use of a screen reader. However, this approach doesn't follow inclusive design principles; it uses software to make inaccessible content accessible, rather than creating accessible content from the outset. Overlays or toolbars shouldn't be confused with accessibility tools, which might be added to a website. These allow blind and partially sighted people to customise some of the visuals, like colours and font size, or read out the contents of the page via text-to-speech. Such tools can usually be switched on and off and do not interfere with the normal rendering of the page.
