Specialized agents are gonna win over Generalized agents (Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw). I'll explain why: Specialized agents (e.g. Seobotai , Listingbott , Inboxbott, SocialBott) will always be a step ahead because the authors will hard-code guardrails / special use-cases / knowledge. They'll patch the holes where AI fails, and they will give the 'guarantee' to the user (unlike generalized agents with their "use at your own risk, double check the outcomes").

We lost a deal to a company with worse AI than ours. Yeah...sucks. But they deserved to win. We did show up with the best model and an impressive demo State-of-the-art stuff. They showed up with: 1. Seamless integration into the existing EMR Software 2. A clear $X saved per month proof 3. Zero disruption to current workflow All 3 points are super critical to get the sale. Our AI was better. Theirs was boring And boring won. Learning....Healthcare doesn’t reward the flashiest tech. It rewards tech that is reliable, proven, and had min friction to adopt. Master the boring parts so well that removing your product becomes unthinkable.

It's an unfortunate truth that one of the primary functions healthcare devs is vendor evaluation and management. It's different - and off putting - for many devs and actually causes some to leave the industry. At Medplum we build platform that is straightforward for _engineers_ to evaluate and manage. That means open source, highly testable, observable, and great documentation - and it's rare.

What's the real cost of "AI slop" in your EMR? We're seeing it everywhere: bloated notes, bizarre assumptions, and even the AI's own instructions left in the chart. Here’s something I’ve been thinking about lately: what if we approached RCM like a product team approaches UX? → Patients = users → Payments = conversions → Statements = the interface That would mean: 📉 Mapping where patients drop off between estimate and payment 🧪 Testing different formats, reminder timing, channels 🎯 Optimizing for ease and trust — not just collection speed It’s already happening in some systems — and it’s changing how they build loyalty. 💬 Anyone experimenting with this approach?
