It might be essential for your workflow, but it’s a mistake to assume that applies to the majority of users.

The feature has been considered for implementation. It’s scheduled for the next major release.

This feature is essential for my workflow. The fact that it hasnโ€™t been considered gives the impression that the implementation is somewhat incomplete.

superfile is awesome. You make it sound like creating symbolic links is an essential feature for a file manager. It isn’t. In any event, the developer has plans to add the functionality, but there are more important things to work on.

There is no ‘anti-Cachy’ pile on, just users expressing their opinions. I use CachyOS sometimes.

Absolutely sweet as could be and everything works. Only hiccup was WiFi adapter random disconnects due to power saving. Once I’d disabled WiFi power saving, it was fine. I don’t really understand the anti-Cachy pile-on on here. It’s a great OS and not just for gaming.

And it’s policy to ship with aggressive CPU optimizations and custom kernels just causes issues.

Anecdotal evidence. I’m also using hybrid graphics on Manjaro. As I said, rock solid under Manjaro. Also anecdotal evidence.

For me, the actual hybrid-GPU support comes from the Linux kernel, NVIDIA drivers, and PRIME, not the distro itself.

My hybrid graphics seemed to be a problem for Manjaro. It never recognised the cards properly, whereas CachyOS set them up perfectly from the get go on my gaming laptop.

It’s fast, works out of the box, even with weird graphics set ups, and has not yet fallen over, unlike Manjaro with which repeatedly broke after system upgrade and had to be re-installed, and vanilla Arch which has a giant, cliff shaped learning curve to get configured and optimised. It’s my go-to OS now for almost everything.

I like this concept, highlighting the bad along with the good helps us know what to either avoid, or at least know full well what we are stepping into before we do it.

Good choice with this one Steve. While I know this is not the first time you have pointed out less than great products, the idea of doing it more frequently should work out well.

FWIW Shortwave is really good, and Tuner is great too if you need a GUI – then other options also exist…

Receiver follows the Gnome paradigm of hiding the details, and it also came up with two links – neither of which would play… so it’s not really very well curated.
