Soon, servers approached it, but struggled to restrain the robot, which kept on moving wildly. Eventually, three servers were able to grab the robot and get it away from the table.

In a statement to NBC News, the restaurant chain confirmed that its robot was “not malfunctioning or out of control.” HaiDiLao said that the robot was simply doing its pre-programmed movements, but the movements were done in “a closer-than-usual setting.”

“In this case, the robot was brought closer to a dining table at a guest’s request, which is not its typical operating setting,” the statement added, “The limited space affected its movement during the performance.”

Many users have since responded to the video on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter).

The film currently has an approval rating of 75% among critics and 76% among audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Commercially, it went on to earn an impressive $326.5 million globally against a budget of $35 million.
